Last night I went to see a band play at a bar. I ordered a pitcher of beer and proceeded to drink it. I got a decent buzz but still kept my wits about me, vision stayed clear.. I wasnt that drunk. After the show I went home, ate and went to sleep. This was about 4 hours after drinking and I felt sober at that time. Thats when wierd shit began to happen. My thoughts went borderline insane, for example I had a stomach ache and thought that my stomach was connected to "montreal street". Also, I didn't sleep until 9:30 in the morning. I could not sleep at all. I normally go to sleep by 3 or 4. I only got 3 hours sleep last night but feel surprisingly fresh.

This has never happened to me before. I cant help but wonder why it happened. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

were you in bed when this happened? sometimes when i am trying to sleep but cant, i think my mind falls partway asleep and the result can be very weird thoughts like what you are describing. the alcohol could've contributed. either way, it doesn't sound particularly worrying to me.

ya id agree with burn out. sounds like you were halfway asleep and maybe yourself out, maybe had a panic attack.

Maybe an adverse effect from the beer/food mix? A few weeks ago I had three beers and then ate a light meal. Woke up with the worst headache ever and I can't figure out why. The only thing I could think of was the food.

That is strange. I have had issues with sleep after drinking--falling asleep and then waking up after 3-5 hours and then not being able to go back to sleep. That's happened to me a few times.

Assuming you took no other substances that night, I would assume it would've either been over-stimulation from the show you'd just been to, or an effect of the food + beer combination?
What did you have to eat?

And also, as others have said, alcohol seriously messes with our natural sleep patterns. But it doesn't sound like you had that much to drink!

Another possibility is that you experienced hallucination as an effect of sleep paralysis. Have you experience SP before??

I agree with the others in that alcohol is not good for getting a good night of sleep, and sometimes those bad nights of alcohol-induced "sleep" are worse than others. I often get sleep paralysis, wierd dreams, not being able to fall back asleep, etc. from pretty much everything sans remaining completely sober.

Do you drink often? Had you been drinking in days leading up to this? I find that if I drink for a string of days in a row, I lose a lot of clarity and get really bizzare and ieffable things occuring in the middle of the night.

How do you feel today?

Id say it's the alcohol fucking with your sleep. Ive had some real vivid dreams and even all out delerium after a hard bender. Ive known other people to get this as well.

I would read about hypo-glycemia if I where you. I was hypoglycemic for years, it kind of the opposite of diabetes, my glucose would crash down into the mid 40's if I was very timely, and fully aware of what I ate.

Simple sugars, and empty carbs, like those in beer, wil elevate then drop, its a scary, delusional, primal like place to be. The crash from the simple carbohydrates can within hors have one in the mindset of some starving, and mad for food, fight or flight. Which often leads to seizures depending on the severity of the case, and many other factors..

Tore doc can do a simple test to find out for sure: you chug a bunch of sugar water, after drawing blood t establish a baseline, then they take a few more draws, probably via a catheter, and maybe basic finger prick glucose check all the while. It took me years before I discovered how necessary Chromium Picolinate, and products with blue -green algae in them are for stabilizing your blood sugar through out the day.

I hope this isn't the case, I can say it lead me around all day every day, for years eat eat right! No beer booze or sugar! Then it went away.....

I had something like this happen once after drinking beer and camping and going to bed early since we'd traveled all day to the campground.
