Opiate tolerance is never permanent. If it was permanent for oxycodone, it would be permanent for all mu agonists, and it obviously is not.
Tolerance takes a while to go back down (the amount of time varies from person to person, and can be as short as couple weeks or as long as a few months) and when it does finally go down, it rises back to its former glory very quickly.
I think your problem is you want it to feel as good as it did the first few times you tried it. Sorry, man, but that just isn't going to happen. You're lucky though. If you understand this now, you can avoid addiction. People find themselves in very deep holes after chasing down that elusive high they felt their first time, never able to find it again. If you can just accept that it's never going to be as good as it was, then you can avoid a very painful existence that you are going to experience if you don't quit now.
So yeah, it's not permanent, and quit while you're ahead.
