Watching this video would make you think drug use is almost universal there in.

Does the act of engaging in sex work, be it porno or escorting, compel practitioners to use narcotics?

My experience with sex work as a trade is that it can be hugely lucrative and contrary to popular belief, it can give practioners a sense of purpose and authority.

The issue tends to be longevity as it's only lucrative as long as the good looks hold out.

Perhaps it is a practice that attracts those prone to narcotic use, rather than one that creates them?

“hedonistic pursuits” yeah bull shit. While Drug & Porn along with OnlyFans maybe symbiotic in the US, and a few other “developed” countries. I assure you this is not the case for the vast majority in the rest of the world. A village girl sent to the city for work in the bar’s or one who’s trafficked into the sex industry doesn’t take up drug use for the lol’s it’s way deeper and darker than that. The sex industry (especially the weird shit) has a way of dragging you down; mentally, emotionally, physically & spiritually. The girls are under a lot of financial pressure; they’re usually a long way from home with little to do in the daytime. Long hours, boredom and the weight of it all lends itself to drug use as a release from the endless monotony that is the sex industry. Being a sex worker at any age is hard, never see your kids or husband and the younger girls are living life outside their age demographic finding it hard to maintain connection to their peer group.

The thing is when your job is to be the life of the party night after night it’s easy to forget people don’t live like that. It’s hard enough on the regular hospitality industry worker who finishes at 4 or 5am, amplified 100-fold for the sex workers. Drug use is sticky, it hangs around waiting for that moment of weakness when it can overwhelm the sturdiest among us, unfortunately it’s that moment of capitulation that zooms into focus for the bystander. Focusing on that end-point as if it were the whole picture.

It's a fake party lifestyle. The confident and authoritative persona/attitude is probably the only control most sex workers feel over their lives. Maybe in the US an OF creator might have more options, but escort work/pornography/any kind of SW is draining mentally. Your good looks are your livelihood. You exist as an object at the will of someone else's pleasure, all day every day. For sex work involving the woman being dominant, it might not be the case (with findommes for example)
Even if they enjoyed it at the beginning, they sure as hell are not having a good time when they're finally done for the day.
