With marijuana legalized in more states, many canine cops are headed for retirement
As recreational marijuana becomes legal in states like Minnesota, Maryland and Missouri, more drug-detecting police dogs are headed for retirement.

That’s assuming there is a record of false positives. Who would be responsible for the keeping of these records? That would be the police themselves. Do you really believe they would keep accurate reports? Some that may question their dog’s credibility? Nope they will say “shake” was in floorboard or previous passenger could have had marijuana. Now those “false positives” become confirmed positives and Fido’s credibility gets boosted.Yeah those dogs are often used in a very corrupt way, very much in a way that circumvents a person’s 4th amendment protections…a lot of times the dogs handler will make some cue for the dog to indicate, which is why a k9’s record of “false positives” is important for court-related purposes
