Basically, today while tweaking balls at school, myself and a friend formulated a master plan that seems so basic and simple I can't imagine why it isn't being done on a mass scale, so basically I am asking, what blatantly obvious thing I am overlooking, and if I am not overlooking anything, why isn't this being done more often? Here it is...
Earlier today I signed up for Organic Chem and a Pharmacology course, I figure my primary Bluelight Drug education can be supplemented by a back-up less-credible source, a State Univeristy...
Anyways, here is the question, feel free to lock this fucker up if it brakes the forum rules, but, it is IN CODE. So I think I am safe.
After graduation, suppose I wanted to start an "independent business venture" that will involve a lot of chemical synthesis and lab equipment. Also it's a business of a nature that I would NOT run it in America for "politcal" reasons, so here is the question...
Why aren't more "independent business venutres" like the one I plan to start up, and the thousands that exsist in Amerika right now, based in Mexico instead.
One would think that the restricted chemicals and lab equip so hard to procure here could easily be obtained in the law-less world of corrution that is Mexico. Not to mention that if my buisness where to be, let's say, "raided". The Mexican judicial system is a joke at best, and surely a business as unrestrained and profitable as mine would become, would have a substanital net profit in precious US currency, I could easily kick out a few million pesos (What is that, 6 maybe 7 American dollars?) to whomever it takes to make it dissapear...
Basically, what are the cons (if any) to basing such an organization out of Mexico? You could easily export product to the US and import profits via "mules" (50 pesos and they'll do anything), as is evidenced EVERY day at our boarder. There is no judical system to speak of to lock you away for life because of your "research" (Maybe there is, I have NO knowledge of Mexican law, except that money controls it). There isn't some all powerful government agency controlling the availabilty of chems and lab equip to researchers.
What is wrong with this plan? It seems just TOO good to be true, there are SO many pros to basing a business of that nature out of Mexico. Ultra-low overhead, granted the Mexican chem and equip market has what's required, if not, check out other more industrialized countries, Europe etc etc. NO opressive drug war to foil your plans, thier the public supports drugs otherwise they would have nothing at all. An extremley effective and easy method for distribution, learn from the best, pick your cartel of choice to model after.
I don't know how many of you have been to Mexico, but it is just like most growing, semi-industrialized third-world countries, absolutley lawless if you have the money to pay for it.
So, can anyone enlighten me? Why aren't lab created "products" mass produced in Mexico and imported to the US via traditional methods, seems like it would facilitate a much better quality of product on all accounts due to no inconviences. A much cheaper overall price for "products" due to such inital low overhead. Happiness on all ends...
The ONLY negatives (And they aren't that negative) that I can remotley think of are a half-ass enforced US "Drug War" that is basically all show for global politics in Mexico, that MIGHT, maybe, one day, cause a slight problem if I didn't pay the right bandito off, or if like, they figured out my genius plan and set aside 12 billion dollars in federal budget to "take me down".
Or, the lack of availability of desired restricted chems and lab equipment, also if they are available, perhaps not quality materials which of course could be accquired in more advanced econmoic countries, Europe, Asia.
Or, some global drug policy that maybe someone knows about in rural Mexico and decided to enforce for some unknown reason...
It just seems to good the be true, a free unrestricted ability to research, experiment and perfect techniques, so many positives...
So what am I missing, it HAS to be something obvious, like Mexico fell into the ocean in 1986 and I had never heard or Mexico isn't accepting immigrants at all ever again. There never was a country named Mexico, I made it up in the midst of some drug binge. SOMETHING must be wrong with my plan, otherwise I am a genius.

"Rock and roll adolescents storm into the streets of all nations. They rush into the Louvre and throw acid in the Mona Lisa's face. They open zoo's, insane asslyums, prisons, burst water mains with air hammers, Chop the floor out of passanger plane lavatories, shoot out lighthouses, turn sewers into the water supply, administer injections with bicycle pumps. They shit on the floor of the United Nations and wipe thier ass with the treaties, pacts, alliances."

You are seriously underestimating the Mexican Authorities and government, and not to mention stereotyping the Mexican people. Reinforcing your racist views is a poor subsitute for reality.
Not to mention there is "nothing new under the sun", I am sure much more connected and criminally active people have attempted or already done this.
If your prepared to do the crime, be prepared to do the time also.
'Nuff said.

Dude this is very true and i havr thought long and hard about such ventures-- only one thing mexico dislikes the USA... I have had friends buy land near the coast and have the mexican gov't steal them back...not much law their if you are mexican but if not then be prepared for a long stay for a little crime--checklist: spanish speaking, know another drug lord, don't be on anyones turf, buy shares and mules from existing cartels, work with another cartel first, live in another country first (est. a home addy, income and life--in ex. bahamas, puerto rico. use foregin banks, don't keep all the eggs in ones basket...trust know one!
oo yea and everthing has already be tryed so good luck and if you run into the right people --god bless!

I'm not totally sure on my facts here, but didn't the US government go to Cuba & shut down some sort of drug ring & drag the Cuban leaders back to the US to stand trial?
If so, I doubt the states would bat an eye at taking down one of their own citizens who has set up a drug operation in mexico.

Spork... that was Noriega in Panama.. we basically started a war that lasted a couple days to snag one kingpin.
I saw a news special a while back about the drug smuggling across the mexican border.. the usual cocaine/herion stuff. But the segment mentioned the smuggling of chemicals used in the synth of Meth. According to the special, Mexican drug cartels are sending the ingredients to Cali or Texas, where cooks manufacture the stuff... huge profit! I recall seeing a huge crate that looked to be a few hundred pounds, labed "Ephedrine from China"... made me laugh.

If I haven't learned anything else in my life (and I haven't), it's that any grandiose plan dreamt up while under the influence of meth should be taken with a grain of salt. To make a really bad pun, you should sleep on it.
I'm not you, I don't know your background, but are you a criminal? I'm not just talking about prior deeds, I'm talking about a particular mindset one has to have to be successfull in such things. It's not something you can easily hop into, and you could find yourself in a whole world of trouble if you step outside of U.S. legal protection. Yes, our criminal justice system may be fucked, but unlike Central and South America, most law enforement officers won't murder you. Crime is hard. Just a thought...

Im sure the established and heads of the criminal drug trade operating out of Mexico would be less than sympathetic towards your efforts in muscling in on their business with all your US free market idealism... Most likely your brilliant venture would end in the same shallow hole in the desert where they dumped your lifeless gringo ass.

Shoosh? Maybe just a topic better hit up in chat than posted. Methoughts.
Methods and all that jazz, you can and if you are able will hit your boys up for info, they can guide you or you can go to jail, but just throwing ideas like this out, I dunno, TMI?

If you look around the poker table and can't spot the sucker, guess what.

hmmm
all i can say is i would MUCH rather be in jail here in the U.S. than in Mexico if i were to get caught in such a scheme......

if you gotta ask strangers in a public forum what to do, you're not smart enough to get away with it.
go back to blockbuster and return your OVERDUE copies of "Traffic" and "Blow" and leave the clandestine chemistry to the experts.
Mexico will eat you from the inside out.
after you pay your late fee from "Traffic" and "Blow", rent Midnight Express. pretend they're in Mexico instead of Turkey. They're both hot and sucky! replace 2001 with 1977? substitute shbangdiggity phat ebomb r0LLs for hash. same ending.
you'll get shit on in the end.
ps. ask crimesquare. he's the worlds best.

Stop giving Brainrape a hard time....he was just asking, he DID give a disclaimer...
CMB -- I don't think you should call Brainrape a (potential) criminal. Do you use drugs? Where do you get them? Oh, people make them you say? Oh, and you are very happy that they do? Thought so. Don't be so harsh on others when you reap the benefits of their hard work....
And, if this country were truly constitutional, you wouldn't be locked away for a chem project (OR for getting high for that matter). As I don't think any of us on this board approve of the War on Drugs -- I think we could agree that drug industry workers aren't really criminals either (but wrongly persecuted and imprisoned).
Brainrape, I dont' know much about Mexico, except that you CAN get all the chemicals you would need, easily and fairly cheaply --lab grade nonetheless. You can get them here too, if you know the right sources -- but you'll very likely be put on a watched list for your purchases.

You can be rich and still be a fucking moron loser who smokes crack all the time. -- Kyk

I read somewhere a while back that some mestisos were already making Meth, on a much larger scale than most Meth cooks in the USA, and are already importing it to this country.

yeah, mexicans out of michoacan state southwest of mexico city make shitsloads of meth. thats where most of the california meth cooks come from also. those that actually make a reasonable amount, anyway. its like theyre running U of Meth down there. why havent they mastered making mdma? i donno; who says they havent? dea website says that cartels are starting to run pills now, like they do coke, etc. so... i think those mexicans are on to your scheme and already doing it. theyre poor, they need $, that provides $, theyre not just middlemen, etc, etc.

Wow, some of the replies have really been some informative gems that answered SO many of my fucking questions. What would I ever do without triumphs of intelligence like:
"Um.....brainrape....are you prepared to hold a 9mm to someones temple and blow their fucking brains out?????No?!?!?Then fucking forget it!!!"
Oh, poopie. Believe it or not that was the ONE thing I didn't consider when picking classes this semester, silly me. Thank you so much for enlightening me. You sir, are a wise sage. I am forever greatful for your advice.
"you don't even want to know what mexican jail is like. you wouldn't last a week."
You're kidding? Mexican jail is really that bad? See, I assumed jail in general was a nice, easy, pleasant experience, like going to a resort. This is just fucking shocking to me. Jail is bad? At least tell me they serve brunch?
Oh and if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to hear about your experience being locked away in Mexican jail? Obviously you have been jailed in one to speak so strongly about it....

Damn. I never realized that a movie set in a totally different country, 30 years in the past, about a TOTALLY different situation that has nothing to do with my post could be such a great source for information. That is such good fucking advice. Any other movies I could watch that would answer my questions in regards to this? I was thinking of renting Sleepless in Seattle to help with the technical drug synth questions I am sure to have. A romantic comedy with Tom Hanks is just perfect for when you have a pesky problem with drug production. Any more brilliant advice Ebert?
May I offer a little advice? Slow down on eating all those "shbangdiggity phat ebomb r0LLs", just for a little while...
Ugh....
To most of the rest of you, thank you for all the replies. Of course what I propose is being done, and has been done in the past. I was simply wondering if there was some obvious answer as to why it isn't done on a much larger scale. I suppose there isn't one.
Having been to Mexico several times and seen the border activity and the relative easy of manipulating the legal authroity there it would only stand to reason that drug production would be substantially easier based from there as well.
Hearing that Mexican drug cartels have jumped into Lab drug production and are already surpassing US levels of production just helps to reaffirm my theory.
So basically it also is an option for those out there just wanting to experiement around in a lab with minimal disturbance, or people wanting to preform more rare production, someone wanting to synth Mescaline or 2-CB for friends etc etc, would benefit from setting up a separate residence in Mexico and working over there.
As far as my personal ability/desire to do this. I thought it was obvious this was all hypothetical, I doubt I'll ever seriously consider it as I have other intrests I'd rather lean towards.

brainrape, you have no clue about Mexico do you?. I can assure you that It isn’t a tiny little village populated with uncivilized people who fight with rocks and sticks all day long in order to obtain a piece of food or whatever.
Do not make stereotypes just based on the movies you’ve seen. Believe me, I live here and its not a jungle (like you seem to believe). OK, corruption is everywhere around here and you can basically buy anything and anyone, but do you really have the kind of money to do so?? Cuz it is a lot. Besides, corruption is everywhere, even in your precious USA.
The Mexican judicial system is a joke at best
I won’t deny that the Mexican law system is terribly corrupted, I’m a law student, so I know what I’m talking about , but it is definitely NOT a joke.
a few million pesos (What is that, 6 maybe 7 American dollars?)
ha-ha-ha, really… think before you speak. Right now Mexico’s economy is the best one in Latin America.
"mules" (50 pesos and they'll do anything)
do not make fun of Mexico’s poverty. Its just bad taste.
Overall, I find your description of Mexico discriminating and ignorant. Please be more careful the next time you decide to refer to places that you don’t know, or at least don't know that well.
My 0.02 cents

I'm with Thoth--a cartel would either try to buy you out, or take you out. It would probably be rough, especially if you got caught.
