Why is society nowadays more likely to fall prey to living like there's no tomorrow?

I think you guys are looking at this the hard way.

really its simple in my mind.

We are products of our past activities and our brains train them selves to repeat what they did yesterday.
So put someone on a game console at the age of 5 or 6 and let them change channels and games every 10 seconds till there 18.
Now try and get them to settle and plan there lives.

We are too used to having everything now so it reflects in the way we live our lives.

well that's kind of wrong as many are born with brain deformities and they are considered to have a mental disability that affects there intelligence to yes you are born with it.


Don't get me wrong I love ACID and the whole scene is one laugh and very interesting but there not doctors and to be honest just because someone distorts there mind does not mean they
are knowledgeable on life.

Personally for me Kermit has a lot more wisdom than mckenna leary or the tricksters.

More often than not I find there ideas are formed from madness dure in the trip and as can be seen from the quotes above madness is what they create.

I agree with you that instant gratification and entitlement culture play a role. The thing is, we are all exposed to those values yet some of us don't turn out that way. It's because the roots of narcissism are actually nihilism. Core nurturing was not provided at some stage and so the individual becomes dependent on hedonism and validation from external sources to feel momentary security. And it's no surprise that the highest percentage of narcissism can be found in the corporate class, the ones who are creating all these systems that get people hooked. Hungry ghosts are creating more hungry ghosts, and addicts make the best customers.

I agree with the second post in this thread that nihilism is the root of it all. People are taught that nothing matters but what they want, so if they're not wanting something, life has no meaning.

Long ago the urge was implanted. Not only in humans but in all that lives. Polar opposites creating. Sex is the word describing. That play which brings about the urge. When it can't handle the pressure it creates. The great purge. Fast forward and the Church is burning all that do it in a way they like. So the pressure raising, people fantasising. Sex on brains so the pressure amounts. The Church stunts. Modernity. No values anymore held from the days when priests feast. And the grat collapse lets it all out. God has died and that lifted the tied. The pressure flied. With hedonism married to consumerism it is visible now. 2000 years of suppression in 50 years of expression...Or something like that...

I don't even read what u posted, I already know. CHURCHES KILLED PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY BELIVED IN THE EXISTENCE OF OTHER PLANETS! Those lost island you see on map.. not only those, even Mexico once upon a time, Nesteld.. that countrytown in USA, anyhow more others but that's not even the point, point was that they try to create one when there's no need for one nor the necessary existent words in all available vocabularies. Im not willing to accept that ppl live like there is no tomorrow, it becomes as time goes by increasingly more important - as society and life gets more and more complex - to plan ahead and to carefully think out every step we take; from the choices we make regarding education and later career as saving money and getting a bank loan to build a house where we will spend many, if not most if not all our further, yrs in... Our entire lives are planned out, its what humans do, using our brain to think ahead and manipulating every possible situation, we have no claws, no great strength or sharp teeth, yet we are to a large degree master over animals that do posess such things exactly by way of making plans to gain control over a situation, its our tool for survival, our weapon...

I think its wrong to call sex an addiction since our sex drive is one of our uttermost primal - ergo strong - instincts and is in the deepest way intrinsically intertwined with our self; furthermore our conscious, which on an evolutionary scale is still in its infancy, is quite hopelessly trying to adjust our natural urge to have sex and ways and settings in which this naturally occurs with our current having transitioned to a cultural life that forces sex to submit itself to quite some unnatural ways of excistance like for example monogamy, which surely is culturally determined and NOT naturally. Procreation is simply imprented in our most essential self...
