Why is Nitrous so popular in the States, but almost unheard of here?

I think I saw a box of cartridges ONCE at a big outdoor rave here, but it seems to be the thing to do in the states.
Any comments?
This just came to mind because I bought a can of reddi-Whip and I tried Hippy Crack for the first time, and I can't complain.
Take this to regional if it needs to go there.

Reddi-Whip doesn't really constitute hippy crack because it's such a small dose. You need to hit a cartridge if you really want to see what it's all about.
As for why it's popular in the US and not other places.. who knows. I don't really think it's *that* popular here, anyways. It's pretty expensive for something that only last a few seconds. More of a novelty than anything, really.

Nitrous makes for an excellent potentiator for psychedelics like LSD, mushrooms, or MDMA. It's not really something fun to do on it's own.
Ya, Love in Vein is right, you ought to look into a cooking supply store and find some whipped cream chargers if you really want to know what nitrous feels like; The reddi-whip doesn't do the gas justice.
Also, as a dissociative, nitrous questions should be directed either at drug basics, or Psychedelic Drugs.

Want to share with the rest of us where "here" is. Otherwise the Q is tough to answer!
 
I think it is a rather cheap drug if you think about it! We usually can get it for like $7 a lb
20 lbs is more than enough for 4 people to get totally wacked for the whole evening
 
My guess is that it's just a phase, every drug goes through a phase. Nitrous is easy to come by at the moment and so its popular. As for it just being popular in the USA, well I live in New Zealand, and i guess i could use the term "popular", but its always been around here for some reason. Its not really a drug that gets abused, its just fun once and a while. :)
 
They have been whored here in Australia too for as long as I can think back, however whippits here are termed "nangs," due to the reverberating nangnangnangnang auditory hallucination nitrous has the tendancy tp bring on. :)
 
I wouldn't exactly call nitrous "popular" in the same sense marijuana or ecstasy are popular. It tends to divide into two crowds mainly: the 15 year old kids with nothing better to do, and the 30 year old burned out hippies with nothing better to do. Rounding out the customer base would be the rare occasional user and those who take it to potentiate other drugs (my main experience).
Overall, most people think its a nasty drug, and ya know what? They're right...
 
I have a love-hate relationship to nitrous. I do believe that anything besides medical grade nitrous should not be used for inhaling. Its not that hard to find a gas store that will fill medical tanks, alls it takes is empties, some balls, and a small town welding supply company. It is real cheap from gas stores as well. $70 for a 60lb tank, I do suggest tipping though. The thing that trips me out though is every place I have that fills tanks, all thier seals say they are from Erie, PA. Their must be some huge plant there.
 
I'd have to say around here, Nitrous is both a 'sauce' you know something to put on top of your other drugs, or a morning after. It's like fuck....6 in the AM...we took everything else...lets go to the porn shop for whippits...nitrous and beer is an 'I don't want the party to end yet' thing.
 
monstercan-D.. your from canada? i dont know about u, but i love nang.. and im canadian too. im not the only one either, i even got ppl who 'dont do drugs' to try it and after that they were hooked hippy crack, lol. i live in a small town, your info says your from toronto, i would think nos would be around there if yah just look hard enough.
we used to get it from our local supermarket till they stopped getting it.. now im thinking of getting an empty tank and calling up the welding shop and asking for some

I agree with you KiwiDevil.
I am also from New zealand and although it isnt abused here most people who consume drugs have tried it at some point.
As is offen the case with the people I know here, it goes through stages where you almost forget about it and dont use it for weeks/months and then you might buy alot for a couple of weeks.
 
nitrous is very abused where i am from, every supermarket is constantly sold out and partis are litered with empty nangs, i think its a really BIG problem
but, i love my nangs too, so i guess i cant really say much...
 
I think one of the main reasons that nitrous is more popular in North America is that there are more hippies here. They don't call it "hippy crack" for no reason…
 
Where I used to live, it was pretty popular. Sometimes you'd see empty whippits lying around parking lots, and lots of them in porn shop parkng lots
