Why is Nitrous so popular in the States, but almost unheard of here?

Nitrous. LOL! The first drug I ever tried! First it was out of whipped cream cans, but then I got a nitrous cracker and balloon so I could use the cartridges. I got a lot of friends started on Nitrous and then the cops got my nitrous cracker. Bummer!

nitrous is very abused where i am from, every supermarket is constantly sold out and partis are litered with empty nangs, i think its a really BIG problem

Nitrous seems to be quite a popular thing with some of my friends at the moment, mostly after parties...we can all sit around and chat and chill out a bit. Nitrous on E gives me really interesting visual effects too, it's a nice way to end a good party.

i recently wrote an article about them in the university paper (in cairns) and since there have been more shops turning down people buying cartons upon cartons of the things...
They get used almost as much as pot here these days...lol...
I decided to write the article when i say some 15yo lads i know who couldnt get pot so they went strait down the shop and bought about 8 cartons of nangs... Its getting out of hand...

I don't know why "hippie crack" isn't popular here in europe.... but it don't seems to be such an atractive drug to me. regular CRACK seems alot more pleasant :D

wouldn't exactly call nitrous "popular" in the same sense marijuana or ecstasy are popular. It tends to divide into two crowds mainly: the 15 year old kids with nothing better to do, and the 30 year old burned out hippies with nothing better to do.

it's not moronic to ask a question to which you don't know the answer. so first, you're not a moron.
whip-cream containers use gas under pressure to propel the cream out of the can. the gas used is nitrous oxide. you can read all about nitrous here:

the gas is inhaled.
different people react differently to different things but, generally speaking, most people will be high for about a minute or two at most.
