Opioids why is codeine no fun?

in theory it should metabolize into morphine right? why is it that even at high doses i hardly get a morphine like effect?

i don't understand why a high codeine dose doesn't even compare to a low morphine dose in my opinion... plus codeine seems to come with more shitty side effects as well, especially nausea.
 
I find it slightly fun. Dihydrocodeine isn't just the prodrug of dihydromorphine, its active by itself but I don't find it to be much fun at all either. Morphine on the other hand is great. I was prescribed dilaudid after an operation once and strangely enough, I didn't find it to be much fun. It wasn't causing any analgesia at all so I was taking near overdoses but I didn't really get recreational effects from it. Heroin gives me good euphoria but it also comes with these bouts of anger for some reason, so I've yet to come across a perfect opioid. The ones I mentioned are the only ones I've tried. I'd like to try a ketone opioid like hydrocodone and oxycodone. There are so many types of opioids out there, but the more obscure ones are near impossible to get your hands on. For me at least, I'm sure there are plenty of people with the knowhow to get them. I'd like to try heterocodeine but its unlikely I'll ever come across it.
 
Because people who do opiates usually have too high of a tolerance to get anything out of codeine. Also, it is really sedating and has a lot of side-effects. Finally, it's formulations (T3 and prometh syrup) have too many deterrents, but I guess u could always do a CWE
 
codeine is weak, and the effects vary from person to person because of different enzyme-metabolizer types
 
Codeine is best at moderate doses. Many negative side effects occur with higher doses. You may want to try taking a smaller dose, letting it metabolize, then a couple hours later, take another small dose. Also, it is right to perform a cold water extraction every time. Not only does it remove all that awful acetaminophen, it also helps it kick in faster. You may also want to take a small dose of benadryl if histamine release is a problem when you dose.
 
Heroin also metabolizes into morphine, and I find them to be very different drugs in terms of euphoria. Just because these drugs are prodrugs to morphine doesn't mean that they will feel the same. By that theory every drug that metabolizes to morphine would feel the same as morphine, which most experienced users will tell you is not the case.
 
Some people have higher levels of the enzymes that metabolise the Codeine to morphine so get more off it. Others with lower levels obviously won't, maybe that's you.

I used to have quite good fun with Codeine til I started taking stronger opiates now it does F.A except slight pain relief. I do like Dihydrocodeine and even with tolerance to Oxy, Morphine etc and being addicted for a time I can still get high and get a nice euphoric buzz off a decent dose of DHC

@jackie jones, i don't need to do cold water extraction, i basically have an unlimited supply of pure codeine pills because of the country i live in.
these last days i have been pyramiding my dose up instead of taking a lot at once and i still don't find it very fun at all. it's better than taking a lot at once, taking too much codeine at a time is side effect city.

how is dhc in comparison to codeine and/or morphine? i've been thinking of getting me some for a while but i have yet to try them.

interesting stuff though about enzyme levels that break down the drug.
 
Codeine + Promethazine syrup (that drank) is really nice. It's not the same kinda high as just taking oxys or dope or whatever but it's a unique, fun high and it's not gonna send your tolerance through the roof.

I never liked codeine on its own though.
 
For me codeine is more intense than oral morphine only for the 1st hour though. Starting with codeine and landing with morphine is pretty nice.

I find morphine and heroin total waste. I cant really feel them at all.

other opis, even codeine, is fine.

Am i the only one like this? Anyone else who can say this to?

^this probably also has to with route of administration i'm guessing?

i realize this is all very individual. i will say this, i definitely felt better drinking promethazine with codeine cough syrup than just taking pure codeine pills. maybe it is the huge dose of promethazine that makes it a little more enjoyable for me.

can anybody tell me the difference between dhc and codeine ? like is it the same feeling but you just have to take less or does it feel like a completely different opioid?

I think this guy migt be on to something. I remember reading that about 10% of Caucasians are deficient in the enzymes responsible for this metabolism. I've never got much from it even with a non existent tolerance. If you're after an easily available opiate high go for poppy tea; but don't tell anyone, it's our little secret. ;)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but i've noticed heroin sometimes makes me angry for no reason too, and i thought i was the only one! I wonder why it does this, just seems to make me really irritable sometimes.

Opiate irritability is quite common but low dose benzo works for it if it gets too difficult, not that I recommend combining them but I've found it helps.
