Why I don't like Shows such as Drugs Inc. What about you?

After watching the episodes that are released to learn more about the drugs. I have decided that more than the obvious suggestion that it's all propaganda used to deter others from drug use, that I can't understand why people who watch it can't see through it.

I use regularly, many different drugs, from Alcohol, Marijuana, Molly, E, Coke, Oxy, Etc.

I also am on a Dean's list in school and manage a very well known food chain restaurant (yes, you could have guessed that) However it isn't fast food and is a respectable position. These shows will only show the negative side of every drug of course because of it's propaganda properties. But not once, have I seen a show that showed a regular user and described experiences or how their life works when using. Most people are to embarrassed or afraid of consequences if they talked about their use which is why no one will ever know that moderation is possible.

Don't you think a show about experiences would interest most people? Everyone is fascinated by drugs regardless of whether they use them or not.

I consider them different when using mainly because the quality is so highly different where I'm at. Anyways, thanks for pointing that out?

Those shows make me feel better for myself cause no matter how low you think you the people on those shows are way worse off

I personally will watch anything drug related regardless of the quality/ production values/ legitimacy of information. I'm a huge subscriber to that show intervention, it can be a little intense sometimes but it's good. I only watch it for the "contact high" (I am a homo), intervention always makes me want to do drugs and can send me into a frenzy.

The documentary type shows that you're talking about are interesting to me for the same reason, but at the end of the day a lot of it is bullshit and propaganda. Some shows are more reputable than others though. I myself liked drugs inc. more so than say "Meth Nation" and "Marijuana Nation" and those that were on MSNBC or whatever. I don't believe that the networks who produce the propaganda laden programming are out to brainwash, the ratings simply are not there for a totally realistic drug program. People want to be shocked and appalled.

The problem with all of these shows is that they are largely one-sided (especially the ones focusing on "harder" drugs"). They demonize drugs and claim drugs are the source and reason for people's hardships, when in actuality it is that person's choice to either use a substance responsibly or irresponsibly. Drugs Inc. for example was no different really than previous documentaries, as it focused mainly on homeless junkies, as if everyone who uses heroin is automatically presumed to also be a junkie.
