Why does sleep deprivation heightens ones senses, rather than dull them?

Ok, so some things i have noticed personally and all my friends who were addicted to meth or cocaine at one point or another all tend to say that a lot of the hallucinations they saw were real and i believe that too. For instance when you have been up for awhile, you can see white molecules floating around, and if you stare at something it seems like you can notice more things. Also you can see microscopic bugs everywhere i know that some of it is not real, but on the floor you can see tiny ants and such, also i felt like i could see through the wall. Also everything tends to sound so loud when you have been up for so long which causes me to believe that the voices your hearing, are real from spirits and ghosts that you can see and hear from your senses being enhanced, and it seems like you can hear noises from the apartments next door you can hear everything crystal clear. All my friends that were addicted to meth have super powers, as in they could read my mind and could tell when i was coming to their house before i'd reach their doorstep. My friend also could tell me a lot about energy, and said that the people that were more on the mean side their faces would morph into scary things, and she said people like im had an aura around them and she knows who to stay away from. Also another thing from sleep deprivation I CAN feel like the organs in my body, and my nerves tingling painfully, needless to say why in anyway at all would sleep deprivation heightens ones sense of perceptions just curious, opinions, -sober for 6 months from everything but marijuana and the occassional wine.

I believe there is a spiritual dimension that can be accessed by a combination of sleep deprivation and meth, that when done with mindfulness can produce some amazing results. I haven't used for two years - I moved and never tried to find a new connection and now I'm over it - but when I did I used mostly when I was alone so I could think, write and do artwork without any "tweakers" messing with my high.

It's more than likely due to dopamine level fluctuations, among other things.

After a certain point, your senses will be dulled...please don't try and push it with stimulants...
