Why do thc & cbd make me feel in pain?

I haven’t been able to find a good answer for this anywhere. Being able to fix this would be nice but I’m more interested in getting to the bottom of it.

I smoked weed regularly in high school, but slowly developed increasing anxiety. I stopped when I was 18 and came back to it a few years later. Anxiety would be there sometimes but not always. What was new though was pain.

If I take cbd or thc for pain, it will usually increase or the pain I had will go away and will be replaced with awareness of a new pain. Typically body aches, and sometimes stomach ache, muscle tightness, or headaches.

I don’t always get pain, which is why I’ve experienced this many times because I would’ve stopped taking it lol. I’ve seen a few say it’s just the hyper awareness, but it seems like there is more to it.

(Other context: I smoke weed 1-4 times a month. I’m extremely sensitive to it (even when smoking regularly I barely gain tolerance. I’m on the autistic spectrum & sometimes have increased sensory issues)

Chronic pain causes mild depression, which makes that it numbs the pain and you don't feel it.

Weed removes that depression and you feel the pain.

Very simple.

This is a very interesting phenomenon that I haven't thought about! I can't disapprove it and it makes sense.

I was going to say something similar - in my early 20s sometimes id get stone before lifting weights. Could "feel the burn" more intensely.

Cannabis can highlight certain types of pain. This effect seems more prominent if you have low tolerance. It doesn't seem to make the pain worse, but like you said, you become more consciously aware of it.
