Its 2.00 am allmost, i rarely got to bed before 6am theses days. Its not just insomnia but ive allways loved the early hours of the morning (even though im in doors) Its the only time my anxiety and depression lifts somewhat. I cant be the only one who feels more at peace and even more alive knowing the rest of the world is shut down and the other humans are in bed.
I wonder if theres any scientific reason why you can feel anxious and suicidal in the day but when your alone + staying up all night your somewhat more contented. I also like to sleep all day and stay up all night because it cuts down on my contacts with other people to as little as possible. Also sleeping is one of the few natural defences against paranoia/feeling like ending my life i have, but i still get those fucking horrible nightmares every i sleep though. Off topic but my emotions( all the time )are completely blunted and numb but in my dreams they seem to come back, sadly only untill i wake up properly.
anyway wish all you other creatures of the night well + thanks for reading my post.

I love the early morning too, but I'm the total opposite of a night owl. I'm usually in bed by 8pm and up before dawn. I just find the stillness and tranquility of the early morning hours appealing. I also love that it's the one time of day when nobody will make any demands of me. I go nuts without a couple of hours of solitude per day and early morning is a time when it's guaranteed.

I think it's partly the seperation it gives you, anxiety and depression seem to come as a package for many people. I think maybe anxiety gives rise to depression (or vice versa) as lots of people with anxiety issues seem to isolate themselves and lack of 'normal' relationships make us feel depressed, or being depressed (and the isolation that often comes with it) makes us anxious about going out and rying to engage with society.

I'm not toio sure about a scientific explanation tho... I think it's more of a psychological mechanism that makes it easier to deal with the anxiety/depression. Sorry if that didn't make much sense, but I have similar issues myself, feel free to PM me if you ever wanted someone to talk with :)

I hate my nightowl tendencies and strongly suspect I have a sleep disorder. I've been a night owl since the age of 11 and always figured my sleep patterns would even out after my teen years. I'm 26 and still stay up all night most nights.

I think people who are more introverted and creative are more likely to be nocturnal than the outgoing sociable types. While I enjoy the quiet alone time of the night, I hate the isolation and conflicting sleep schedules of myself and my friends, family and s/o. Going on vacations is very hard, and I have to plan my activities around my day-sleeping.

I like the night for the fact that its not the day.... theres only half as many assholes around and the early hours can be quite tranquil. bout the only time i can be totaly alone and its a good time to think/ reflect on shit, sometimes nowdays im out early, but occasionaly just wont sleep stilll (even after a cocktail of meds). Different strokes 4 different folks i suppose:\

I am too lazy to go to sleep, but I love sleep.
Please someone agree with me so I can feel validated, I love this experission, especially for people with ADD.

I feel that we have more passion at night, it seems like the right time to do things. I really do enjoy either the brilliant darkness and silence, or the fun of the nightlife.

What is existing in the morning? The nighttime is exciting even if I don't go out, its either more peaceful or more in the scene if you are being social. For young people, the morning is useless.

It depends on the day of the week for me. I work 3 mornings and 2 evenings so on the weekends my sleep cycle is confused. I usually enjoy staying up all night on my days off of work, and more often than not this is aided by some type of euphoric chemical :) I remember when I worked straight mornings I used to hate being up to see the sunrise due to coke induced insomnia on the weekends..........glad to be rid of that!

I tend to get energy at night because it is when I am accustomed to getting high and having fun.

I don't know why I've been having trouble sleep lately. The past few days I've been going to bed later and later. My attitude has been very negative lately.

When I was in rehab I got into the habit of sleeping around eleven and waking up seven. It made me feel normal. I also enjoy the tranquility of early morning, seeing the sunrise and hearing the birds sing. That habit did not last long.

There is a beautiful stillness at night that daytime doesn't have. <3

Everything is better at night. Going for a walk in the peaceful silence. Studying. The moon shining on things.

For me? Daytime is noisy, fast, it just does my head in. But it's when Im at my most productive, so night for me is relaxing and calming.

Ever since i got addicted 2 opiates i have found sleeping a problem . I don't stay up late hardly at all i usually go 2 bed about 11pm but i always wake up really early 6am is late 4 me.
Once i am awake i can't ever get back 2 sleep so i don't even bother trying anymore.
In someways ido like the calmness of the early mornings and watching the sunrise but it's also a time when i use any drugs that i have. Another positive about getting up stupidly early is that i'm not gonna have anyone disturbing my solitude and i value this greatly.

My days and nights are pretty well turned around these days. I usually don't even get up until 1 or 2 pm. Even when I had my last few jobs, I was working mostly evenings, so I would sleep until noon or so. It's not that I love the night so much, I just really hate the morning. Idk, I find early daytime (before noon) to be really depressing.

Haha, that's so easy to do when you've got Adult Swim on. :)

I have a thing for the night. I just think it's mysterious, if that makes sense. I love the night. I like the sun, because it makes me feel good and improves my mood, but the night has this mysterious allure and "sexiness" to it. I'm also a romantic, so I think it comes with the territory. LOL

This is just a theory but probably because people don't always have to rise early in the morning anymore. We used to get up early every day because we had to in order to get work done while it was still light outside. However, we obviously don't have to adhere to that schedule anymore and we even have plenty of jobs and activities that can be done at night.

In addition to this I think it has a lot to do with peoples' schedules, whether or not they exercise, and whether or not they eat well. I remember denying any of this having anything to do with my insomnia but I got honest with myself and realized that I needed to shape up. As soon as I started exercising every day--even for just thirty minutes--and stopped drinking so much caffeine I was able to get to sleep at a "normal" time. I actually craved sleep for the first time in forever and I was able to fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I dunno, I think a lot of people deny this has anything to do with insomnia. I realize there are certainly plenty of legitimate cases out there that involve physiological and mental issues but I subscribe to the school of thought that if you just get out and exercise for a few minutes and change your diet and schedule around, chances are you will be able to sleep easier.

Ramble ramble ramble 8)

Anyway, at the moment I'm not an insomniac but I get up every morning at 4:00 a.m. to make breakfast for my significant other before he PTs and heads to work. I usually end up staying up for a few more hours and then going back to sleep around 6:00 or 7:00. In the meantime I tend to post on BL :P Anyway, I wake up no later than 10:00 a.m. I think my sleeping schedule is really weird but it works for me. I pretty much just take naps throughout the day. When I get home from class, I take another nap and wake up by about 6:00 for dinner. I then go back to bed by midnight at the latest.

I don't like daytime traffic.

I'm up during all times of the day, somewhat randomly, so I'm not necessarily a "night owl", but I do probably spend a disproportionately large amount of the time awake while it's night time.

I definitely prefer the night but I've never been a day person ever, long before drugs and anxiety and depression came into the picture. I think some people are just more biologically suited for this schedule just like some animals are nocturnal, so are some humans.

I'm nocturnal and it'll probably always be this way, even when I travel to different time zones, like from the west coast of the US to Europe, by the time I'm there a week or two I end up on the same nocturnal schedule.
