Why do so many people prefer to be "NIGHT OWLS"

I like the early hours of the morning just before and after dawn. I don't know i find it peaceful and it's almost like everything is new again. Plus theres noone awake yet to fuck up your day :\ . Sometimes i stay up all night but other times when i have weird types of insomnia i'll get up really early.

Maybe the morning being peaceful thing is just a product of so many really early mornings walking home when i was younger and i was either tripping, stoned, coming down or half drunk.

I am too lazy to go to sleep, but I love sleep.
Please someone agree with me so I can feel validated, I love this experission, especially for people with ADD.

I feel that we have more passion at night, it seems like the right time to do things. I really do enjoy either the brilliant darkness and silence, or the fun of the nightlife.

What is existing in the morning? The nighttime is exciting even if I don't go out, its either more peaceful or more in the scene if you are being social. For young people, the morning is useless.

I ll agree with you on this one even tho i dont have ADD because you are the shit=D. My bad couldn't stay upon aim my buds internet sucked.

For some reason I like to stay up now because It nostalgically reminds me of those times when I was a kid and me and couple friends would stay up playing Sony P 1 all night or watch a good soccer(futbol) game. And the next day we were fine, ready to do the same thing without any drugs. Now its a diff story....when I stay up its usually cuz of drugs (otherwise i get bored too easily) and I also like the quietness, and romanticism i guess of the night cuz i suffer from anxiety.

i was born around 3 a.m. so maybe that's why i prefer night to day. i always had a hard time getting up for school then later when i had to work day shift hours. as soon as i was able i began working nights.

I am definitely not a morning person though...i hate early school/univ classes just because all I feel like doin in da morning is either (depending on phase) taking more opiates or fucking/cuddling.

I go to sleep around 5-6 am as well and wake up around 12 or 1. I always enjoyed the night since my early teens since the day or sun for this matter reminded me of school and since I was in school for most of my day I thought I should have equal time to myself to do whatever I wanted. But nowadays I dont even like going out during the day unless I have to run an errand or whatever because I dont like all the traffic thats out during the day and theres just too many "normal" people out during the day lol. I like the streets at night. Nice and calm and soothing when cruisin on a street or on the freeway free of traffic without any delays. Like it was said above, all the fun and interesting people come out at night.

I'm nocturnal these days, and have been periodically throughout my life. My sleepcycle is really variable, like CH said, but recently I go to sleep around dawn-ish or a little later, and sleep until 4pm. It is becoming winter here, and I see less and less sunlight each day.

Perhaps it is because I have no other choice, but I've come to prefer the night - the sense of aloneness and solitude, the fact that no one else is working. I'm a student artist and I get my best work done at night, and I think some of it has to do with reduced anxiety - like no one else is doing productive work but me, so I don't have to worry about anyone's expectations, etc. No one to compare myself to, and no one to compare themselves to me.

night owl

I have always been a night person and i believe in sleep deprivation therapy for depression. My moods suck in morning and my depression lifts after one a.m. Night people tend to feel better after less sleep while normal ppl feel irritable with less sleep. the more i sleep the more tired i feel.

I'm a bit resentful that we're heading into summer here and I'm losing hours of darkness in which to cloak myself.

You can trade places with me where it get's dark around 4PM :| . Thats one reason i hate winter is the almost total darkness that begins so early. I get SAD bad if im not taking my anti-depressant which also happens to treat SAD for some people.

I'm such a creature of darkness that my last lot of blood tests showed I have a vitamin D deficiency - that's quite an achievement given that I live in a country with one of the highest number of daylight hours in the world.

I love between 11pm - 5am , those are the hours I am most alive, get the most done - but I have to very strict with my schedule these days.

If it was up to me I'd be sleeping 6am - 2 pm , but it's not.

from the posts it seems that people with mental health problems are the ones who like to keep the strangest sleeping habits. how much is down to unemployment or a way of cutting oneself off from the outside world, im not too sure.myself , i think the night/ very early morning hours seem to fly by a lot faster but if im up early ,say 7 am continually untill 10pm the days seem very long ,as i dont have a job due to my illness. getting up at 12 or 1 pm makes the days a lot shorter imo.

I'm a night owl and I hate it.

It's fine on the rare occasions where I can sleep in at my leisure, but most of the year round, no matter what time I fall asleep, I still have to get up bright and early for work.

My insomnia is quite bad - there's been some occasions (fortunately not too regular) where I've gone to work on no sleep at all - and this isn't due to drug abuse as I hardly touch drugs.

So for me, it's not a preference. I can't say I don't enjoy being awake at night, but I'm just well aware of what the consequences are. And it's not worth it.

I used to be a night owl this last time I went on a heroin run, would stay up till 6am and sleep to 3pm. For some reason opiates don't let you sleep. Now my sleep habits are so much better I go to bed around 12am wake up at 8am. The night time has always been my favorite time of day and it is when I feel the best.
