Why do my eyes only dilate after coming down from a drug?

Whenever I use amphetamines, my eyes only slightly dilate while I'm still speeding. I am anxiety prone and always go easy with uppers, and never tweak the fuck out like a lot of people like to. However, after the main effects wear off and I'm feeling like shit on the comedown , my eyes dilate pretty damn huge. Even 12 hours after taking it, my eyes are huge.

This also happens with DXM. Many people say DXM dilates their eyes just as much as MDMA. When I'm tripping, my eyes don't seem to be any more dilated than what they are when I'm sober. But after the main trip is over, and I reach the "afterglow" (which is actually pleasant, unlike stimulant comedowns), my pupils are like saucers. They also remain dilated the day after DXM use, but by then they are probably only about 50% more dilated than my pupils are supposed to be when sober.

Anyone else have this happen to them or have any theories or explanations as to why this happens?
The only thing I can think of is that the metabolites of the drugs are causing it.

Can't give you an explanation but I just have to say, your lucky. On amphetamines (especially speed) my eyes dilate ridiculously the entire time even after coming down 24+ hours later. I think personally some people are just really sensitive to stims etc. On DXM though, my pupils don't dilate much either like you said. Not much difference from when I'm sober, not even the afterglow.

While some of my friends eyes dilate like crazy on DXM. I dont know, I think some people are just sensitive but I'm sure theres gotta be some reason behind it. I don't mind having dilated pupils I like them honestly but when it comes to functioning in public, that's where it bugs me.

Definitely some of the drugs chemistry plays a part Id say but who knows, I'm sure someone will come along with an answer.
