Why do codeine and tramadol no longer work?

Recently did a full to clean kick from kratom/dilaudid/oxy abuse. A month passed. Started on kratom again, mostly plain leaf but some extracts thrown in. Worked beautifully.

Took some tramadol for legit pain in the clean time -- up to 350mg in one day. No opiate effect (tramadol used to give me a sweet buzz lasting for hours, on just 100mg) just anxiety and sweating. No pinned pupils. Stopped taking it.

Got some codeine. CWE 300mg yesterday -- no effect. Added another 90mg. No effect.

Waited until today. 520mg CWE. No effect. Added 240mg. No effect. No itching. No bliss. No euphoria. No pinned pupils. Nothing but an almost imperceptible sense of calmness.

Codeine used to work great for me. Even with the habit I had a few months ago, 300mg codeine felt nice.

Why the hell do codeine and tramadol suddenly have no effect? I'm not using any heavy opiates any more, they should work even better! My kratom usage has been really low, 4 grams twice a day plain leaf most days except an occasional day long FST binge.

Is it some sort of permanent tolerance? Is something completely inhibiting CYP2D6? I take mirtazapine which is metabolized by 2D6 but is not an inhibitor of it and is said to have NO drug interactions (on the enzyme level anyway). But last time I dosed on codeine 4 months ago, I was taking it then too.

Only other things are vitamins/supplements -- milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid, phosphastydylcholine, fish oil, selenium, multi vitamin.

I even tried throwing some bromazepam AND 100mg tramadol in there. Nothing.

Anyone have ideas about what's going on? I feel like adding any more codeine at this point is a waste, being I'm in America and it came from overseas it ain't exactly cheap.

Once you've had a high tolerance, even if it goes away, it builds up much more rapidly should you start using again.

Yeah but in the past when my tolerance was at its highest, I still felt SOMETHING nice from codeine. Now, and three times that amount, zippo. Not a little effect, nothing at ALL.

Ok but my tolerance is way lower now than when I was shooting 40mg hydro a day, and back then I could still feel 300mg codeine.

Now I'm just using small amounts of kratom, no other opiates, and feel nothing at all from 760mg codeine. Not the wee-ist little sense of warmth or a single itch.

this is why I'm wondering if I'm unknowingly taking something that's inhibiting CYP2D6.

I've been using an 84% kava extract -- could that do it?

I am bumping this thread because the exact same thing is happening to me.

I am also using kratom.

If I take my normal codeine dosage I get absolutely nothing, If I take a much higher dose, I also get absolutely nothing.

I know how tolerance can rapidly reduce the strength of opiates and have experienced this in the past but what is happening now is very different, no matter how much I take I feel nothing.

Please could someone explain why this could happen?
