Heroin Why do beetles not burn/run as well when left for a while on foil—can you mitigate whatever causes this in any way?

[skip brackets if you know what 'beetle' means] — (I'm not sure if 'beetle' is a colloquialism, or not, so I'll explain just in case; it's just the blob of hardened heroin you get after you first melt some on the foil, then leave it in a clump—sort of looks like a beetle).

When you first smoke some heroin on foil and leave a beetle for later, it never burns as well. Does anyone know why this is? My theory is that it oxidises with the air, but that's just a stab in the dark.

My reason for posting this; does anyone know a way to mitigate this happening in any way?

I haven't tried it yet, but could covering up the beetle with something like coming film help? Jr covering it up doesn't work, could it be that in it's hardened state, it heats up unevenly/in a way that causes it to not smoke as well/burn easier?

I was also going to try and get a beetle I've left overnight, place it in a baggy, then pound it back into dust. I imagine this would make it worse, but I'm willing to try. I also have a fridge in my room—could temperature that the beetle is left in maybe be a factor?

Either way, if anyone knows anything about this, I'd appreciate your enlightenment... Thanks!

I'd assume it's picking up impurities as it condenses back to a sold: water, aluminum etc. giving rise to a change in surface tension when reheated. Along with oxidation on the surface of the foil from heating and cooling.
Not sure about not vaporizing as well when reheated.

Did you try both the shiny and dull side of the foil to see if there's any difference?
