Why Compressed Weed

In Australia this isn't the case at all. In fact most of the time the 'bricked' buds I have come across have been absolutely skunk and above the average street bud. Where I live skunk is either grown in a small hydro operation and there is never a huge influx of it, or it comes by the truckload in KG bricks. This bud may have lost potency being squashed but it still towers above the rest.

This is definitly true for weed in sydney, the bricked stuff (we call it "adelaide", dont know if it actually comes from adelaide though) is fucking amazing, wish i could try it in nice uncompressed buds.

I wonder why they just don't smuggle hashish instead, unless they can make more money off the bud, but a kilo of hash is gonna be worth more than a kilo of bricked weed.

Hash is also easily shaped into bricks without degrading it.

Even with the most efficient extractions you're only getting about 1/2 of the THC when you make hash, and hash-making is a time consuming art. There's no incentive when you can sell the weed itself for so much.

So de-keifed weed, will be half as potent?

You could also make hash using solvents, grinding it up real fine and extracting it, I'd rather have some regular ol hash though.

Dry sift isn't as efficient as water extraction, but yeah, sieved weed will be less potent, probably by about a quarter. When you use solvents you get oil, not hash, which isn't a particularly popular product as it's a hassle to deal with. And like you say, properly made hash is superior to solvent extracts.

weed that's compacted like that was usually vaccum sealed in bags for shipping

man i couldn't read the whole thread but that like why does juice comes in a bottle, and new shoes in a box or is a miracle that eggs come in a carton of 12

i guess someone who gets the super dankytidan bumbalicious biohazard weed isnt to get our weed compressed but sometimes necesity is the mother of inventions

^There's plenty of uncompressed dope around. Bricking it up is not a necessity, and that kind of attitude and willingness to accept inferior product is what lets dealers get away with shit like this.

Compressed isn't necessarily bad. When I lived in the South (USA), a lot of really good stuff came in lightly compressed bricks from Mexico. Of course there were bad bricks coming as well, but smart shopping could land you a nice sack of some fire green if you didn't want to shell out the money for top-notch strains.

^True, but I wouldn't have ever laid hands on it had it not been. Also, some of the stuff is so lightly compressed that the buds are just really close together and barely compacted, and if it's dried properly before this, I don't really see this as being too damaging to the buds.

Yeah, I think it's compressed for transportation purposes.
It's easier to move compressed bud than it being all fluffled up and shit. You know what I mean man? It's just easier to move around in bigger quantities.
Like indicameds said, it's easier to mold. It makes sense.
Lesser quality?

its compressed so it can be green, otherwise it would tend to be orange or red and can be dangerous or flammable
