Why are needle marks created instead of a hole?

Hi,

Every time we have an injection, we end up with a red dot or mark. Logically, we are supposed to end up with a tiny hole right? A needle puncturing the skin should create a tiny deep hole? Even when large needles are used, only red dots are created? How is that? Aren't injections supposed to end up with tiny holes in the skin?

Or probably if a dull needle is used, a hole would be created?

Yeah, I know it creates a hole. But will the tiny black hole be visible in the skin? All we can see is a red mark right?

Uh, you are aware that skin heals, yes? It basically regrows and covers the hole with tissue. It's a healing mechanism.

Yeah, there is a hole. Right after injection anyways. The thing is that once the hole is made and the needle removed the hole closes in on itself to a degree and the redness, as mentioned before, is inflammation.

Ive had type 1 diabetes for over 16 years now and i have to take insulin shots 2-3 times a day. Ive never injected drugs although i do lots of drugs. Best advice i can give is rotating injection sites. Injecting in areas that haven't healed enough will make the skin, veins and muscles in the area get harder and harder. Which is not good.

The inflammation redness is basicly extra blood that has rushed to the wound to heal.

Also for example when you eat the body sends extra blood to the stomach to help work on digesting. If you go running while your food is trying to digest then your stomach will be lacking enough blood to properly and efficiently digest the food, because your body has sent extra blood to legs and such because of running.
