Who's in your crew? -part 2

I'm not in or want to be in a "crew". I have friends I go out with, friends I see out and new friends I make.
It's all about fun, not being seen as cliquey group or crew. It's so highschool.

Pleo: Most of em aren't bluelighters tho ya smartarse! :p~
BTW, social clubs... They're crews too at a basic level... Think about it...
...But then again, so are cults...

Crew???? ummmmmm... i once spoke to moocho on the phone.... and i think that is the closest to outside contact with a BLter I've had...
...mostly i just party with my uni mates and a few guys ive met at work and stuff

crews. :)
its nice to belong to a crew. and its even nicer to advertise it to everyone. makes you feel like you belong to a community and you are almost better than others (not in an arrogant or bad kind of way...). its also safe and easy. as a race we always have a need to belong...people excercise this through religion, internet communities, race unity.
i dont particularly disagree with Krews and the idea of them. i just think it stupid to advertise it and announce it. it is exclusive and it usually ends in a bad way. im not trying to flame anyone...just expressing my view.
alone we are weak...together we belong...that kinda thing. just know who your friends are and respect that. i dont really have krew. i hang out with various friends that i have made here and there, mainly people from my old high school and some people from BL and i love them all to bits. i guess i could give those people a name and post it up here too...then everyone would know where and that i do belong! ;)
dont really know if this post will even b considered...cos no one will heed attention to it, because im not part of any krew...hehehe...if i was, my krew members would read it and reply and so on ;) ..well...all i got to do it ask i guess...can i be in your krew please? ;)
as i said...its not the krew thing...its the ADVERTISING (pointing out) of it...wtf is the point??? but if there was no need for advertising it...there would be no need for the krew!? its like speaking to someone (possibly even a stranger) and then looking at them and saying...look...see that guy over there...he is my best friend...yup...we are friends you know...uhuh...im not here alone... ;)
hehehe.

YES! Great post Hamlet! Totally agree! :)
The reason I've only put silly responses in this thread is because I find the concept of defining memberships to crews kinda silly. As Hamlet said, crews are good, advertising them is not.
It comes back to the basic hunter/gatherer animal instinct. We feel comfort in tribes and together can protect and look out for each other. The tribes have makings to signify membership, be it marking with slashes across the chest, the removal of the front teeth, or wearing kandy bracelets.
So while I understand the reasons behind all these crews, I think it's wise just to know who your friends are and to leave it at that. I'm not going to deny that it's fun to have little tribal role plays like we're doing, but it's all this over analysing that can be the undoing of it all. If it gets too complicated then you lose the basic animal instinct element and turn it too much into modern politics. :)

the tribe has spoken.
:) ;) :D
(sorry, i couldnt help myself)

Hamlet> as Noc_chick said, it's just a bit of a joke thing really. not to be taken seriously, and definately not to exclude anyone. (the TKK is pretty much open to all).
They're basically just a bunch of mates that happen to name themselves simply for the fact, when ur describing one group in conversation, you don't have to name every invividually until the person ur talking to understands which "group" ur taking about! phew... it makes things a lot easier, trust me!
also, they're a friendship group (specifically the HDP, TKK and DFC) which have web sites which the group of friends can talk on, (eg. community zero) AND not be fearful of being judged, flamed or have their threads shut down by mean old moderators! ;) basically anything goes. And a good refuge for when BL temporarily goes down.
These groups, no matter how old, new, tight, open, big or small are NOT AT ALL trying to make anyone who's not in the group feel left out. their name is only there to maek things easier, not to sound prestigious.
AND finally, me, nor any other "krew members" are trying to advertise our "part-of-group" status. Tars simply asked "Who's in your crew", and as you can see, having names for the krews i hang out with, made my original post SO much easier to explain. I don't care if people see me as a group member or as myself, (i'd prefer to be seen as an individual thankyou!) :) but i can tell you now, i dont think i'd "advertise" my krew status simply for the fact i think it makes me look special or better than you. NO WAY! i was just answering Tars's, (who is a mate of mine as well as part of a krew) very good thread!
*breathes*
ok?! :)

Kirsty: I'm sure the piggy's post was just a general observation, not directed at anyone who replied to this thread...
*waves to da piggy*
Great post there Hamlet... I think all those of us guilty of the advertisment you mentioned do so inadvertently, we're not trying to appear cliquey or prestigious, as Kirsty said... We do understand it can appear that way tho...

Well, i reckon the crews rocok.. My oldskool crew (that barely survives) The TTC (again not all bluelighters). (YAY SToMPS*) And The TKK.. GEnerally speaking though I hang amounsgt all Krews, (HDP,DFC, TKK, TTC), oh and of course all the other bluelighters.
No need to pay out on krews, as tarsy said, its just an easy way to tell someone who you hang with, without listing 50 names.

I think 'Krews' should be seen as a bonding thing amoungst friends - not as 'cliquey' thing to alienate or ostracise other people.
I don't think Krews are trying to say - 'You're not in our group' or 'You're not good enough to be in our group' - they're just proud of who is in their group and they want something to show their solidarity.
Ahhh the powers of positive thinking *grins*...

Hmm, seems that being part of a crew is a status symbol type thing. Cool. I have gone one better though, I have a hetero-life-partner. He rocks, and accompanies me on 95% of my urban safaris. It's awesome. We like to have fun.

I was going to refrain from posting in here but I must say a few things.
*Sits next to Tarsarlan and nods*
This is in regards to Melbourne...
The 'krews' here have NO STATUS at all. It is simply a way of identifying who we generally go out with. At the end of the day/night we are all usually together and no one really notices who is with who. At any given time ANYWAY we are generally hanging out with other 'krew' members.
It does not signify coolness or whatever. There is no 'your not in OUR krew' blah blah. Thats all a bit of horse shit. We all enjoy each others company and we are all (most) good friends. So bottom line is..
Instead of trying to understand who is in what Krew, remember... there is no krew.
And IF I look around in this lovely community we are all apart of.... Is BLUELIGHT not a krew of sorts?

Who's in my Krew....Well Just me...hehe..
Good to see everybody's not taking this thread too serious (again).......yeah right.........
BCR

lest all us 'krewless' peeps feel left out - we are all part of the Aus Bluelight Krew. Just like they have the SoCal crew - we are own posse. I propose we invade the main social thread as a krew just to let those yanks know we still are around..we reprezent Down Under! yeah!
