Whole Food, Plant Based Way of Eating

I hesitate to call it a "diet". Anyone do this? What do you avoid and what are some of your "go to" foods? Did you notice anything of importance when you eat this way? I am curious about what this could do for me. Thoughts?

^I have read that eating a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of cancer and other illnesses so health-wise this is very good.

Same here, having gone heavy on veggies and 2 day fasting once a month has helped me lose unnecessary weight and deal with my Lymphadema. Been slugging some apple vinegar dailly as well. About a shot glass. I've lost 20 lbs. in 6 months, down to 165.

A heaping plate full of veggies each day (spread out or all at once, your call) reduces the risk of many diseases. I find it harder to eat that way in the winter because I need a lot more calories for the cold, so grains and meat take precedence in the winter. Once spring comes my veggie intake increases way more. Unless you live in some place that's warm all year round, I don't see how an 80% plant diet can be good year round.

Shadowsblaze - good for you. What is the vinegar doing for you? I bought some with "the mother" in it but after seeing that movie i wonder if it would acidify the body. As i understand it the body counteracts acid by disolving calcium from bone. I may have misunderstood or the quantity of vinegar may not do what i think.

Foreigner i'm much the same way. When its cold out nothing sounds better to me than stew and homemade bread. The warmer months i tend to eat a lot straight from my garden. It is so easy to do when the produce is a few steps from your door. Here in the north the growing season is short but i'm working toward incorporating season extention methods to get more fresh home grown food into the kitchen.
