A MAN is to appear in court later this month charged with five offences in connection with a drugs raid in Whitby during which police were showered with white powder.
After the incident at a flat on the West Cliff on 18 April this year, five police officers needed hospital treatment after the substance got into their mouths and lungs.

The officers were praised by acting assistant chief constable of North Yorkshire police Steve Read.

On Saturday police charged a 26-year-old Whitby man with five offences in connection with the raid – possession of Class A drug diamorphine, plus a further four charges of wilfully obstructing police officers in the execution of their duty.

He is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court on 15 July.

So it says white powder, that means he threw high quality heroin at them right? And so they got so high they had to go to hospital ..and given nalaxone? :\

What an idiot! You can bet he just doubled his time served and got a worse beating when he was arrested for pulling this stunt. What could he possibly have hoped to achieve?

What a shitty and uninformative article. It never actually explicitly says that the white powder was heroin, it merely implies it. The article just says "a white powder"....it could have been vitamin b12 for all we know, and they were just taken to the hospital as a precaution -- there's no reason to assume that this guy threw diamorphine at the cops. That white powder could have been anything; just because the guy possessed heroin doesn't mean he was throwing his stash at the cops.

Watch they find out it was a bag of fertilizer, so they charge him with attempted manslaughter 8)

Seems to be a clear gesture of contempt at members of a self imposed self selected authority.

YEAH the article isn't real clear on what exactly this "white powder" was.

He should have thrown it everywhere other than the cops, then the recovered weight would be much less. I saw this on a movie one time, but I can't remember what it was called. Any guesses?

typical one sided police slander. Basically the police want to taint the minds of the readers into thinking that is what happened but in reality its far from the case. The man most likely had a little heroin & was raided. He then through flower or something at police who then pissed themselves & cried like babies. I hope he does okay in court.
