Ok obvious we have people who are out in the cold on nitrous. Here is the break down on LEGAL ""racing nitrous.
The biggest legal tank is 2.5 feet, holding 11 pounds, 1 ounce of gas.
New tanks have a powder in them, that powder I have been told by many a person is sulfur.
If you get a new tank you must empty it 3 to 4 times before using, to get rid of this powder.
The powder sits on the bottom and get adigated by the gas and then comes up.
There are two ways of filling the tank:
Freezing it which takes about 1.5-2.5 hours then putting in the powder and filling it with gas.
Pressure pumping it in the tank, which takes about 5-10 minutes.
Both cost the same price, last I checked hear for a full 2.5 foot tank, $37.50.
90-100 3 foot in diameter ballons of gas comes from one tank.
The nitrous gas from a racing shop, is as good in quality as food grade, or medical.
So there you have it all the facts I have about this. Play hit and miss with shops til you find one that either doesn't put powder in it, or pressure pumps it. The powder wont kill you, it just tastes like shit and you can smell it as well. Word of advice buy a used tank for about 120-150 instead of a new one from 2000-300. Get a 3/4 inch radiator hose 2-3 feet long from an auto store. Get a hose clamp with it, and attach the hose on the tank with the clamp. Now you have distance between sub zero tempature gas and rubber ballons or anything of that matter, the hose will freeze and it will be fragile and break if your pumping out a lot of ballons. My way of finding the right shop is look for a place that works on track cars, not street cars.
