I have choice next week, i am getting a prescription for pain after a dental operation. I believe my choices where Demerol, Fentanyl 5 or 10 mg, Valium, and maybe one other. Should i try for the Fentanyl? Would it be better than the others at 5-10 mg doses?

i had the fetnyl patches once and i wasnt impressed. tell the doc you want perc 10's. tell hyim thats all that has ever worked for you is percocet. demerol sucks. dont bother.
why the valium? for pain? i hope not. anyways, tell the doctor you have used percocets and they work great. if he says no, take the norco 10's. there good.

Fentanyl, even though the figure is dead wrong. 5 or 10mg sounds like it is referring to oxycodone or much worse, hydrocodone.

I have a feeling that if they're going to give you such serious pain medication that they'll probably just end up knocking you out or having you so messed up on a benzo you won't notice the opiate high anyways.
But demerol sucks. Period. So if you have a choice just between those to, you want fentanyl. However, you should make up some bullshit about past surgery and be like "Actually, I got some sort of injection for Dilaudid (mispronounce it) or something like that and that worked perfectly and it wore off by the time everything was done so I wasn't all messed up aftewards".
My ex used to get IV dilaudid for her serious migraines because morphine and demerol were both so shitty and didn't do much. Not only did the IV dilaudid work, but that's one of the best opiate highs you can get.
Not that I'd mind IV fentanyl or anything. But it only last about an hour.
Actually.. if you're going to be getting meds to go home with, instead of trying to scam IV dilaudid which isn't likely anyways.. you could say that you've had Tylenol 3 and Vicodin after other unrelated surgeries and they didn't do much for the pain and made you feel kind of sick, but Percocet worked great.
That'd definantly be the best way to go.

I've tried oral and insuffalated demerol, and while both were nice, they felt very spacy and synthetic. I would hafta say I prefer oxy or hydro.

Ok, first of all, I'd like to know what kind of DENTAL operation would have them consider giving you an Rx for Fentanyl. Fentanyl is used either as an anesthetic DURING the surgery or as an adjunct to ongoing opiod therapy. I'm fairly positive your facts are crooked and the fentanyl is for during the procedure, not after. Anyway, as far as the question goes, take the Demerol, hands down. The fentanyl high lasts all of a half hour if you're lucky. Demerol lasts much longer, feels similar enough. Fentanyl is not all that unless delivered in a constant strong stream.

I would try for the dillaudid, but then I have quite a opiate tolerance, fentanyl does nothing for me.
Remeber that if you get dillaudids you want 'knoll' brand & they're really only worthwhile if you bang them.
IV demerol from what I can remember is very nice- maybe I'd choose that for novelty value.

IV dilaudid, sucks imo. The rush is an asskicker! No doubt about that. But that's all I get from it. 1 minute after the rush is gone I am at baseline with the itchies.
Fentanyl is MUCH better, imo. A good IV dose lasts about an hour and a half. Oral fentanyl lasts for hours. Take a small IV hit for the rush and chase it with a small oral dose for the duration.

I have been informed by a reliable source (anestisiologist) that it is your right to demand not to be put on benzos. In dental operations they are just there to make you relax and forget the unpleasentness.
Get the fentanyl and say you have heard they give drugs which stop you from remembering and you don't like that. Apparently it is assault or something similarly serious if they give you the benzos without your permission.

I agree with Alternity.. Are they removing your jaw.. I have never heard of someone being prescribed fentanyl or dilaudid for any after surgery pain relief unless you are terminaly ill or went through major surgery... percocets would probably best the strongest you would get from a dentist or oral surgeon.

Yeah, its rare they would give you fentanyl or demerol for post surgery pain. But if this is really the case, say you want amples of demerol and a bunch of sterile syringes. DEMEROL IS THE FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love in Vain, you say that demerol SUCKS?!?!?! I am assuming you have only taken it in pill form. If you administer it IV, it is the best drug in the world. I'm not even into opiates that much, i mostly use psychedelics and smoke bud, but IV demerol is my all time favorite drug.

Wait, youre saying you had IV demerol? If so i would find it so hard to believe that you think it sucks, maybe you had a small dosage? Well i guess some people may think it sucks IV but i really dont see how that is possible.
