I've been really getting into techno/hard techno/ tech-house/acid/etc and I want to know if there are any concerts/artists/festivals that play any of that sort of music. I love house and all, but I'm getting sick of the mainstream type of music and trying to find the heart of the rave scene, you know like those underground sort of feels to them. I want to feel like I'm back in the 90's =D. Any suggestions?

Ultra?

DEMF from what I hear is solid.

Electric Forest may be more up your alley. Hell, even Burning Man.

A classic rave is a pretty rare beast nowadays. Best bet is to hit up some dirty clubs in the Florida area that have monthly events. Florida of all places I would think would keep the old school flavor alive. I think with afterparties, raves, house parties its just a matter of someone handing you a flyer at an event or meeting that random person that knows someone else.

Movement/DEMF maintains a Detroit stage where a lot of house and techno legends play every year. Better yet, there are always a few legit after/day parties during Movement where you can really time travel to a proper mid-90's midwest rave. I highly recommend the No Way Back & Deep Detroit parties.

Resident Advisor is the place to go for underground electronic. Below is the link for Miami events. DEMF, Decibel, Sonar, VIA, Mutek, a lot of RBMA events, they all play good underground music. As far as the events in Miami go, I'd see Move D next weekend. It looks like both Electric Pickle and Treehouse have decent lineups pretty frequently. I'd look up a mix by the artists on the lineup and if you like it check it out.

EDIT: EDC also does have a stage that is generally better stuff. I volunteered at EDC Chicago and for two days one stage had some good quality music. That was the Neon Garden stage (if you want to check some of those artists out). I just checked the EDC LV lineup and same stage name had those sorts of artists, the biggest names being Carl Cox, Sasha, and Richie Hawtin.

Feel free to message me if you want any more specific recommendations.
