o hi o
Well I'm bored since its summer and am thinking of where i want to study abroad, which i will begin in a year. Im more of a regular on other forums but i figured this question was the most pertinent to this board. I want some countries that i could research more. I want a country i can go to and pretty much party hardcore for a year. I want a good bar scene, maybe crazy strip clubs, good attitude towards americans, and a easy language to learn.(not like arabic or some language that is notoriously tough to learn even the basics.

the only real place i like so far is belize. It main language is U.S. and its pretty exotic, but it doesnt sound like a crazy crazy craaaaaazy place to party. I know the first place that comes to mind is amersterdam, but for some reason my gut instinct is no.

my last question is if you have ever been abroad for a long time, how easy is it to get laid, especially if you only know the basics of that language.

thanks in advance

I studied abroad in amsterdam and it was incredible. I highly reccomend it

and as for getting laid, the euro chicks were hard to work as an american, but there were tons of north american chicks on my program. canadian chicks love the cack, especially when drinking!

holland would be great. you don't have to study in amsterdam. there are loads of programs nearby. pretty much everyone speaks english and is generally friendly. the dutch know how to party and are very amicable to foreigners.

from what you're asking for i'd recommend berlin, manchester or prague.

that's just me though...and i'm a jerk.

Krakow, Poland...Budapest, Hungary

EDIT:

The reason why these two countries...simply very cheap and HOT women of course not to mention awesome food, DUH!?!?! :)

^^^^^^^What's some reasons you would suggest studying in those two countries, and what are some reasons why they would not be the ideal country to study abroad. thanks in advance

I know I'm gonna sound like some boring old git, but wouldn't your choice of subject and then the different opportunities different places bring to studying that subject be the main motivator here?

I can tell you, if you just choose a place for what you think will be the good-times, it's likely to be a complete bitch when (as is inevitable) the day-to-day humdrum of life takes over.

But, hey, what do I know? ;)

I stay in a college in Australia and we have americans come for 6 months and study here.
Australia is a good place and all the previous Americans have seem to do very well with the ladies, i think it has something to do with the accent lol. Anyway man Australia is a good choice, you can drink at pubs here at 18, people are very laid back, good weather, weed is usually cheap and good quality, other drugs easy to get as well.

Anyone study abroad in Denmark? I'm looking at a program in the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark with an exchange program for the summer.

I would study in Thailand. Bangkok is an intense city so if you have the head for it go their. In Asia I would check out Taiwan lived their and loved it. Ladies love us and theirs a lot money to be made teaching English. I would think about Eastern Europe Prague is the shit.

no other suggestions, i guess not that many people study abroad?????
My kid studied in Germany this past semester. He loves it there! Although he is a German major and speaks fluently you can get by with knowing very little of the language.
And to answer your question about bars, etc? Plenty!

As much as I hated living in Sweden, I'd recommend it on the basis that Scandinavians on the whole are very good at speaking English, probably best out of all European countries, except of course the UK and very possibly the Netherlands too. Also, they like to drink and party, especially university students - if you're looking for a drug-friendly culture I'd go elsewhere though because drug use is looked down upon by most people (at least compared to other countries I've been to), and although a fair amount of young people take drugs they tend to keep it very hush-hush. Also... you said you wanted to get laid. Well Swedish girls are very forward, in fact so much so that most of the guys there are lazy bastards that let the girls do all the work and they don't even know how to approach girls properly :( (thank God I left that place). And Swedish people are quite good-looking and very slutty.

Oh, and all education is free there, so no expensive tuition fees. I think that applies for foreigners too although I'm not 100% sure. Also Sweden is very clean.

Negative parts: Not drug-friendly, expensive alcohol, the music people listen to in mainstream clubs is appalling, people can be very reserved and aren't that easy to get to know (although it gets better if you go to one of the major cities like Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö, or even one of the major university cities like Lund, where I studied. I'd recommend all four), winters are long, and people are often miserable and depressed - Sweden has a very high suicide rate.

Personally, even though I've only been to Holland once it seems like a nice place to study, I have a Dutch ex who studies in Amsterdam and he's having a really good time. But I love London, so no chance of me moving anywhere else until I finish my studies, except maybe spending a summer in France improving my French.

Never lived there, but I've been to Copenhagen quite a few times and it's a really nice city. I'd imagine that the culture and everything would be quite similar to Sweden though.

Krakow, Poland....

I've only been there once, but I wouldn't move there simply because it seems it would be difficult to get by on just English, and Polish is very very difficult to learn. My boyfriend is Polish and I'm trying to learn the basics so I can communicate with his non-English speaking family next time I go there. And it's fuuuuucking difficult - and I'm not bad at languages, I'm fluent in English and Swedish and my French is rusty but decent, but I still find Polish so hard to learn because it's different from the languages I know. If you're going to learn another language make it one which is close to English (ie shares a lot of words) like Spanish or French or something.

Also, according to my boyfriend Polish girls are quite hard to get. He says the ones that go abroad become quite slutty but the ones living in Poland generally have a reputation for being a bit difficult.
