sweltering sky, burning sky
falling, they hang
dust motes float, unmoved
a curtain settles, wavering
still grey land, shadow land
divided, i stand
across, you lay, unmoved
the world recedes, my cast in vain
surrender, your journey
paused, pulse stopped
you that were, graven stone
remembers, ashes passed into
dust, passed into
nature's bosom held
in quiet sleep
awakening awaits
an angel's kiss
resting land, sleeping land
a world divided yet,
not so apart i stand,
just a cliff just a fall
a step, a breath,
just beyond
where cypress stand
in ashes rest, under
sweltering sky, burning sky
