this is a really weird day. I snorted 15mg of adderall around maybe 11pm last to clean and it gave me intense insomnia. It's 4:19pm and I'm still awake -_- I decided to start drinking (VERY SLOWLY) and I've had about 8-9 glasses of wine... that might be a lot for one sitting but try so slipping every now and then over a period of 17 hours... that's not really anything... I was dumped with kids to babysit which I love but we have NO food here and I need to get them something...nothing is within walking distance... driving, I know for a fact I'd be absolutely fine but I'd slit my throat if I ever drove children in a car after drinking more than a sample of wine at a store... I want to lay down, but it's hard with these kids running around screaming and banging things. It's 4:20pm, if I have absolutely no alcohol by 9:20pm (and just lay here) will I be sober enough to drive... It's just around the corner... I'm not worried about the legal limit or getting in trouble because I know I wouldn't get caught... I'm afraid of being subconsciously impaired enough that It would be a risk to drive... and before you suggest delivery: food stamps don't work that way. If worse comes to worse, I'll just ask a neighbor to go to the store later.. I just want someone to give me facts of how long it takes the body to get rid of alcohol...

The general rule is one drink per hour. Of course there are many other factors here to consider, body size and sex are two of the big ones (women metabolize alcohol slower then men and people with less body mass get drunk quicker than those with more body mass). Remember, this is just a guideline and since we don't know your specific situation it is impossible to give you a 100% accurate answer.

I think the best course of action is to get somebody else to do the driving. You've been drinking and you're sleep deprived. Even if the alcohol completely wears off by this randomly selected time of 9:20pm - you'll still be very sleep deprived. The safe answer is get somebody else to pick up the food. Don't risk it.

I don't know how viable it is, but if it's just around the corner could you all go for a walk?

If it's nice out and the kids are willing to do it I'd do that. If not I'd just call someone. You're pretty sleep deprived which is not great for driving, even if you did sober up by then.

Here are some handy calculators - of course they are just rough estimates and I found slightly different results using different calculators, so you should always err on the side of caution and see how you feel. The fact that you are sleep deprived could definitely worsen the situation so bear that in mind as well. If the store is "just around the corner" why can't you walk there?

Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) Calculator - This one gives an estimated BAC of around 0.05% and says you will be sober at 7:20pm (that is assuming the 9 glasses of wine were spaced evenly over the 17 hrs).

Calculate when you are sober again after drinking alcohol - According to this calculator, you would have to wait until around 2:20am to be sober, so that is quite a bit of a discrepancy from the previous calculator.

Blood Alcohol Content Calculator - This one estimates you would currently have a BAC of around 0.04% and says "You may not be legally intoxicated, but it still may be possible to be arrested for DUI. Please think of yourself and others before getting behind the wheel."

(Note: I just used my own info when these calculators asked questions about height, weight, gender, etc, so you might want to re-do it with your own info as that can make a difference).
