So I was just thinking I have been using Bluelight for a long time ever since 2004. In that time I have accumulated large amounts of knowledge that if not applied by helping others via Bluelight would be essentially useless. Sure it comes in handy being me and knowing stuff but a large amount of the data I have amassed throughout the years would go unused.

I cant imagine it will go away I mean now its approaching 11 years worth of reading forums and recently becoming a moderator and learning even more stuff. My question is what will the future be like for us? I am assuming a large amount of BL users are like me, drug knowledge sponges that dont discriminate to one substance when it comes to learning. Will we be some old person in the nursing home who says "if your going to have your grandson take your medicine because you dont need it do you think you can give it to me I have a headache" for we are the old one know know what "hydromorphone HCl USP" means. Will counts for syringes be off by 1 every once in a while at these nursing homes? What will will our adult children think when you accidentally say something like "those fools dont they know the population will turn to heroin use like in 2010..."

I guess my general question is for those of us whose library of knowledge is vast what types of scenario will it be helpful in in the future, beyond "I will know not to take too much Tylenol" however true that may be.

You seem quite optimistic for someone on this board that you'll have an old age, lived out in a nursing home.

I am fairly confident I will live pretty old as most of my relatives have lived to like 80. I honestly don't foresee my drug use impacting my age because I don't plan on ODing. We can all fall victim to natural causes like cancer but to think I would die early as a direct cause without ODing seems kind of unlikely. Plus it is better to act like you will like just in case you do and you end up regretting some of the things that can be avoided.

Or for the sake of the question play along! It's fun!

Oh OP, you're so funny. No one plans on ODing...

As a senior, I imagine it would be infinitely easier to get whatever prescriptions you wanted, some of them you might actually need though. Doctors won't see your frequent visits as drug seeking behaviour and they won't be so hesitant to up your dosage of painkillers.

I thought that having a lot of information about drugs would be useful and interesting, but honestly it just makes you look like a sketch bag (wish i could tell that to 17 year old Chronic Asshole, ha). Better to keep it to yourself unless someone is doing something irresponsible to themselves.

In my experience, the more you know generally the less impressed most people become with you. I intentionally play dumb or silent most of the time in real life just to avoid constant problems.

It doesn't pay to be knowledgeable outside any officially authorized qualification.

Best case scenario people will use you, like people do with "that computer person they know".
In most other cases, you'll be treated with suspicion, accused of arrogance, one way or the other the more knowledgeable you are the more people who will hate you for making them feel inferior. And without aforementioned qualification no one will believe you anyway.

I'd teach my kids how to drink by 18. How to smoke by 18.

I'd tell them how bad opiates qnd hard drugs are but obviously couldn't condone it or anything remotely like that.

I'd encourage them to follow their scholarly passions and hope they outweigh the drug allure

One of my best friends did a ton of drugs with me and with out me in college, like I mean plenty of em, now he's the CTO of an extremely successful company, probably quite rich.

As long as the motivation to succeed at a viable passion is there, along with some self control and notion of priority, drugs don't equal failure.

I want to broadcast www.bluelight.org into space. Just maybe someone/something out there will check it out and come to earth. They will read so much info about the drugs by the help of all of us.

I'm probably in the minority that would say that fuck an education and learn from the drugs themselves.

All those idiots that preached "go to school and avoid drugs" are stuck in dead-end careers they hate with a few fucked-up kids and a shitty wife/husband, in debt a massive amount of money, and generally hating their lives.

Whereas the people that got too fucked up on drugs back in their day are usually living in some shitty tiny apartment or homeless and on welfare, but hey, at least they are free from responsibility.

I guess chose the lucrative path and be possessed by your career or chose the fun path and be financially fucked.

Of course there are the people who have a loving wife and good kids, but these are rare, more common is the druggie back in the day who is a cool artist/philosopher/scientist of some kind now.

All the same, I'd say to the younger people to just have fun and do what you want, fuck what your parents or society expects of you, live for yourself and be happy, or live for everyone else and be miserable.

I reckon though we'll have some new kinds of drugs that obsolete everything else in the next one hundred years.

People who go to school and avoid drugs are stuck in careers they hate? Have fucked up lives and hate themselves? Man cmon that is just absurd. We all like drugs here but to say that people who strive to learn more and avoid drugs have bad lives is the biggest case of non logic I've ever heard. First, you're generalizing every single individual who doesn't do drugs and assuming they hate life because of it. There is an inherent risk in doing many types of drugs, its impossible to argue that doing drugs automatically leads to a more worthwhile life. I seriously can't believe someone who calls them self a psychedelic wizard would be so closed minded. You're literally saying that people are better off doing drugs. You imply that being on welfare but free from responsibility is acceptable. If everyone did that there would be no one to pay for the welfare. Holy shit, think about what you're saying.

I guess chose the lucrative path and be possessed by your career or chose the fun path and be financially fucked.

If someone hates their job it is their own fault. I personally like my job and hate my management, but I get to work by myself so I stick around. If the job sucked I'd quit, as I have my past jobs. Having an enjoyable, well paying career and having fun isn't mutually exclusive. If you already believe that this is true, you are not going to be successful or happy. You can have both, its not one or the other!

*sigh*

This is horrible fucking advice. I remember you coming back on the forums and telling an Adderall user to "suck it up" and some bullshit about world war 2 veterans being on amphetamines. and then you post on the The Dark Side forum about how you are dying or some shit, and that your life sucks. Your not helping harm reduction aspect of the forum at all, by preaching to "Keep getting fucked up" while you are high, and then complaining when you run out of a shard on The Dark Side. and you are going to tell young people 'fuck education' what the fuck?
You tell people on the forums "oh yeah, do whatever the fuck you want" while you are high, and then on "the come down" you complain about how much life sucks.

I used to live in a $650 apartment in the ghetto, and it sucked ass. the darkest 2 years of my life. Fuck that shit.

I hope I die old as fuck, period

I'm merely stating that it isn't black-and-white, not what you suggested I suggested. There is no right or wrong path. If everyone worked and nobody had fun, what would be the point?

I'm stating the opposite of what the majority of ignorant masses believe. I've met plenty of students who admire me and wish they were free like me, and I admire them for the money they have and the hard work they've put out.

If someone hates their job it is their own fault. I personally like my job and hate my management, but I get to work by myself so I stick around. If the job sucked I'd quit, as I have my past jobs. True, but there's no perfect path...

There's plenty of "old fucks" who hate their lives, stuck in a retirement home that would make your life in the ghetto seem like heaven in comparison.

Happiness comes from within. I'm not perfect, nobody is.
