When in opiate withdrawal, will stimulants have diminished effects?

If someone is withdrawaling from opiates, their dopamine levels are not optimal or baseline obviously.

Would that mean that a stimulant like amphetamine would have diminished effects because of the lack of dopamine in the brain?



Does that make any sense? Sorry....my head is so foggy.

No.
Not for me, anyway.
After weeks of absolutely NO sleep from methadone w/drawl I thought it a good idea to try some ethyphenidate to give me some pep. Thought it might even help w/ sleep (so desperate for sleep, foggoy from insomnia) like it does for ADD patients at the end of the day.

End result was psychosis in 3 days. On top of nasty withdrawls.

Did the ethyphenidate feel the same to you as it did in the past (assuming this wasn't your first time)

Like did you feel the HIGH of the drug was diminished?

I would say that stims are contraindicated. Get some diclazepam (for LONG T1/2) but use sparingly. Not more than 4mg/day for not more than 14 days. I know there are a LOT of benzos out there and they are more addictive than opiates BUT a few friends have gone cold-turkey from methadone and so the figures I give are the safe limits. Diclazepam metabolizes to delorazepam & lorazepam, all of which are x10 diazepam.

Its great to use benzos as a tool when you have a hard time coming off a stimulant like mdpv or during opiate withdrawals but they are absoulutely terrible drugs to abuse

to topic:
wouldnt use stimulants while opiate withdrawal,the first hours might give psychological relief due to increased dopamine flow,but with the comedown you have your withdrawal insantly back+more psychological side effects and increased anxiety than before the stimulant

I don't think opioid withdrawal is as simple as low dopamine levels in the brain. It's certainly much more than that given the spectrum of downstream effects of opioid receptor activation. Opioids indirectly lower adrenaline/noradrenaline levels, during opioid withdrawal levels of adrenaline/noradrenaline are much higher than normal which accounts for the anxiety, so stimulants will exaggerate withdrawal, and given the comedown effects from stimulants like amphetamine, I'm sure they have a negative impact on the recovery from opioid withdrawal as well. Dopamine certainly plays a role in opioid withdrawal, but I suppose the effects of opioids on dopamine are much more evident when you can't feel joy and crave opioids long after the withdrawal is gone.

14 days? I wouldnt advise anyone to take benzos for more than 3 consecutive days.

No.
The high was diminished by the over w/drawl feelings, and I really did not enjoy it at allll 'cause of the teeth grinding, artificial energy whilst my body was completely unable to keep up, the comedown was much faster, longer, and more pronounced>>>> and there was nothing I could do to alleviate the twitching cramping sweating writhing jitterbug horizontal bed dance I do after a stim sesh. Benzos could't touch it.
I then tried a higher dose in attempts to be social (5weeks in my WD, & had not been too much fun), and was soon pacing the house peeping windows carrying a machette and million volt tazer...Full psychosis the next day.
NO relief from WD. Accelerated psychosis. I wouldn't even call what happened a "high".

Typically, I can use stims. for a solid 2weeks before psychosis sets in.
