I've taken it quite a few times, but it usually just kicks in for about an hour, then it's like a Ritalin high and makes me just concentrate more, without the speedy effects.
I would think OP that the XR is intended to be released slowly over a period of time and that there is no second wave but we'll see if others do experience one in BDD.
I agree, Adderall XR does have a second wave, which kicks in after a lull (that lasts about 30-45 minutes) before the second set of beads start working.
Of course, it always depends on how much you've eaten, whether you've drank soda (lowers effectiveness throughout the active effects of the med), taken an antacid (increases levels of Adderall in the blood), and what else you've eaten that day.
^Exactly. The acidic food and drink vs. basic food and drink or antacids makes a big difference with XR amphetamines and IR amphetamines alike, not just Adderall.
The XR mechanism is pretty unpredictable when you look at it in the grand scheme of things, which probably had something to do with the research that led Shire to Vyvanse...well, that and the desire to have a monopoly on the next latest-and-greatest ADHD/ADD drug market.
