This riddle has been a classic of geek culture for centuries. The Voynich Manuscript is one of the only full-length books that has forever defied even the slightest bit of comprehension. It's written in an unknown script, in an unknown language, with drawings of bizarre, uknown things, and has no known author or place of origin. Read about it here if you've never heard of it or seen it. I must say, having spent quite a long time staring at its pages, I can see how much of a mental cocktease this puzzle is. I definitely had moments where I said 'Oh come on now, I think I see a pattern. This can't be too hard.' The US and Britain's top WWII codecrackers said the same thing in the 1940s.
In your opinion, what is the Voynich Manuscript actually? [mods: feel free to make a poll out of this if you want]
A. The last surviving document in a dead, possibly secret, written language.
B. One author's way of writing in a natural spoken language, perhaps one that's exotic to Europe and/or unwritten.
C. An difficult cipher.
D. An elaborate and brilliant hoax.
E. Something else entirely.
