So, what have you been working on recently? Poems. stories, movie scripts, play writes etc.

Me, for the last 2 months I been writing a movie script about the long island dope eppidemic. In a nut shell, it's bout two junkies who sell too get the free frix but soon realise how lucrative it is and get deeper in the world of drug dealing. Theres alot more too it but I don't wanna spoil it, I'll post some of it within a month when I finish the rough draft. I'm 52 pages handwritten deep thus far %)

My projects are littered across Words. I'm moving to writing off of Bluelight and it seems to improve my writing greatly.

I'm not organized enough to have projects :) Most things are usually one offs that I do in a sitting.

I'm jealous of people who have the skill to do longer pieces. It's really hard maintaining a tone for anything longer than a dozen lines...

I find the same. I find that when I go to write a poem it's either in Words or on my Livejournal. From there it gets transferred to word documents. I reckon altering the environment in which you write can be a great creative tool.

i enjoy short stories and am currently working on one, although i am my own worst enemy.
ill delete thousand of words after hours of work.

I have two unfinished novels, an unfinished screenplay, and a half-assed poetry collection.

My life is a work in progress.

i prefer short stories and i'm presently working on two, one of which i'm submitting to an anthology, due date 10/31. i've had some poetry published in two anthologies in the past year so i've always got an eye in that direction too. in the spring other opportunities are coming up and i hope my submissions then lead to more positive results.
i've learned a lot in the last two years, wished i'd known any work posted in an open blog wouldn't be eligible for submission elsewhere but oh well.

I agree, leiphos... life's most def a work in progress.

Songs centered in my continuing struggle with addiction. I have music the words are coming kinda slow usually they just flow out, all things in their own time I guess.

Can I ask which anthologies you've had poems published in?

And in terms of work posted on an open blog being ineligible for publication, that depends on who you're submitting to. In some submission guidelines they'll make an exception for works posted on personal blogs.

My Poetry and Poetics teacher was saying that it usually takes him at least a year to finish one poem! :O

The Roman poet Horace said you should give a poem ten years before showing it to anyone! Seriously though, there's a lesson to be learned here.

neither was any big thing. both were local, one called "the long road" that was sold to raise money for the sexual abuse/rape crisis center. the other was called "florida voices" and raised money for an environmental organization dedicated to preserving the rivers and springs in my area. at that particular time, there were a couple of companies trying to permit/build water bottling plants and it raised money for the opposition. there is already one bottling plant owned by coca cola on the sante fe and it's a fragile environment so we don't need any more impact on the river and springs.
both of them were just sold locally but i tried and it turned out to be a positive experience. i'm submitting a short story in october to another anthology called "bacopa" which is more statewide/regional than just local and hopefully that will be a positive experience too.
these little local things have given me a bit of confidence to try submitting to larger publications in the future. everyone has to start somewhere. :)

Good for you, izzy66. That's fantastic. Very worthy causes. You have my utmost respect. :)
