    Welcome Guest!

whats up with candy kids?

yea its not my thing but I have met some cool kids and they are always friendly and open and usually can hook up some good rolls.

I have always liked drum bass, jungle and I spin breaks.

I'm a kandi kid myself and go to raves every weekend. I wear candy and lots of it, usually covering my whole arm. Reason why is I can give to other ravers, and trade. Giving and trading kandi represents a gester of friendship, and acceptance. It represents a gift of intimate friendship.

I love other kandi kids, we are among the most cheerful of all the people at the rave. We seem the most colorful and the most happy. We bring joy, and hapiness to everyone who sees us. We are the happy cheerful type.

I love Candy Kids - they are the nicest people you'll find. I'm not one myself, personally I can't bring myself to embrace the Candy side of it, but the rest of the culture rocks :)

It's a whole subculture, like the punk movement in many ways - they've got their own clothing style, their music, their own special rules, rituals, and what not. To each their own, right? A rave is the type of place where you should be able to express yourself to the fullest extent, however you choose. If you want to be at a rave plain-clothed, and that gets you off, then by all means, go for it. If you want to cover yourself in candy bracelets and have a name like Plurberry McSprinklemuffin, well, hey, go for it. Some might consider you silly - but, fuck it, what does it matter? If you enjoy yourself, that's what's important.

So something has to be wrong with someone if they don't dress and act like you and aren't into the same things you are?

Wow, thats helpful.

Wow, you totally missed half the post, great job genius.

Hey all,

Out of my, damm I am getting old, decade + of clubbing I think "the kandi culture" was part of larger events and part of the 'rave peak'. IMO the "rave culture" was a part of the electonice music scene that hit the masses much faster than the other genres. Even at its peak I never remember seeing "kandi kids" at the underground house/techno clubs. Only at the larger warehouse events, or clubs that catered to the trance scene (And i think the culture is more American and Aussie orientated)

None the less they are a happy crowd and I prerfer them over the more "picky clubber crowd who are aa aaanot that tune, what shitty mixing8) 8) 8) "

i wouldnt call myself a candi kid, but a couple of my rolling buddies are. because of them, i have about 10 bracelets, which i only wear when im rolling.

lol, I didn't know candy kids were still around...maybe they don't hang out in techno and house clubs...

In Canada, there is an underground hhc scene with kandi kids. Events of 200 to 500 people, with hhc, makina, uk hardcore, freeform, hardstyle, ...

At some point, there were raves of that kind too regularly. The mood changed: people were less friendly and it was all about having the attitude.

Now, we don't see kandi partys every 2 weeks like we saw in 2005, but there are still a few every year. But kandi people are still welcomed in psytrance and underground trance events.

I read the whole post. Sorry didn't mean to imply you don't have a right to your opinion. I just don't understand why anyone would have a problem with candy kids. I was/am one. It's fun to dress up in wild colors and go out. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Ah sorry, didn't mean to get all up and shirty with you. What I meant by my post was that candy kids were a bit crazy woah colourful to look at/be with. but later the same night I learnt to love my fellow man and have no problem with this colourful little subculture ..
