What's too much?

In terms of just liking the act of smoking, you could go out and buy a pack of marlborto lights as a temporary substitute (though i now find cigs to be kidna gross)

Very very bad idea. Why would you substitute a physically harmless and physically non-addictive drug for a physically addictive and carcinogenic drug?

^^^^^ POT IS NOT NON-ADDICTIVE!!!
i think its pretty clear from the OP and from various other threads that pot can be psychologically addicitng, i personnally find quitting cigs easier than quitting pot (cigs @ a pack a day, and pot @ high all the time)

Sorry, I meant the adjective "physical" to apply to "non-addictive" as well. Editing my previous post for clarity now.

I so know what you talking about man, I'm exactly like you. Like I work near one of my full time smoker buddies, and he comes up to work on my break and we fuck off to park nearby and blaze, I always say like I don't wanna smoke cause it makes the rest of my shift go slow, or smoke on the way home but I know I wont apply for better jobs lol.
Its like if I see certain people or if weed is there I HAVE to smoke. I haven't even ran out of weed in the last like 16 months because I compulsively pick up before I run out, meticulously weighing how much I'm about to chop and how much I have left etc.
Try and ut back to just the evenings, I did that for a while, but now I'm back. Tis the circle of weed I suppose.
I don't like to use the term weed addiction, but I have tried some hard substances and only old mary got this hold on me.

Forming a mental / psychological dependency is a little bit different from an addiction.
Having never had any withdrawl symptoms from it, other than the acknowledgment that you are now without a substance that allows you to enjoy life in a different way.
Though, i've never over used / abused MJ.

If you smoke alone, try making it more of a celebratory / social thing. That way, you only smoke at certain events / times / with certain people hence limiting your use.

This one might sound a bit extreme, but if you smoke mostly with tripper buddies, try experimenting with your options. Not to say that you should ex-communicate yourself from your friends, but perhaps branch out to new friends, or just see that particular group less, and don't smoke by yourself.

That being said however, there is nothing inherently wrong with what you are describing in my opinion, other than that you are at least slightly concerned with your usage. Review your average day, do you spend it productively, how is your social interaction, is MJ becoming a central part of your life?
As far as i'm concerned, if you're fulfilling your obligation to yourself, your friends and society, it should matter less how much you smoke, as long as your fun is economically sustainable and within the bounds of healthy living :)

If you feel like you are smoking too much, slowly taper it down to say like one small session a day before bed. Have it as something to look forwards to after getting everything done in a day. Thing is with weed, the more you smoke in a given period, the more it will be in your mind afterwards. Its mainly just a habit that can be broken like any other with a bit of wilpower.
