What's the point?

I was reading an article on what ecstasy testers actually test for. It said that it will change to purple/black if there is an MD** substance.
You buy an ecstasy tester to find out if your pills have MDMA in them. All you know is that they have MD**. That helps a little I suppose, but what the tester doesnt' tell you is what else is in there. Alright, so what's the point?
 
The great majority of pills that contain MDxx contain only that substance. Also by using other testers in conjunction with Marquis you can screen for more substances.
And basically any knowledge is better than no knowledge. If you don't live in a country where you can get your pills easily lab tested, and only a handful do, you have to rely on testers. The alternative is simply not taking pills. The choice is yours.
 
There is always a risk and although I see myself as responsible I am still willing to take pills which come up as purple/black on marqius as I believe that the chances are fairly slim of it containing something which could be potentially dangerous.
But I would put this down to the country I live in and fact that we really dont seem to have a problem with dangerous pills and until lately I would say more than 90% of the pills on the market here are md**.
If I lived in America or Australia id be less certain as there appears to be more bunk pills and pills which are not md**.
You can see though if your pill is mdma and pma/mda with the ez test extreme and I dont think i'd be the only one to say they have witnessed a yellow flash before the md** reaction with a marquis indicated some sort of speed in with md**.
If there are pills which contain say mdma and pma and people die from them then it is likely you would see a worldwide warning placed on sites such as this one and the message would be put across quite happily by the media using it as another "ecstasy victim" etc.
The chances of getting an md** pill with something such as pma in it aswell though is very slim to none but theres always a risk even just a risk from taking mdma on its own. This doesnt mean we shouldnt be careful and taking pills in halfs if you are unsure of them is something I would advise.
 
^^^ er Mecke has the same problem as any other reagent; the indication for MDxx is a very dark colour, in this case dark green/blue, which would mask any other more subtle reactions, ie the light yellow for DXM, or the orange/purple for 2CT-7.
Mecke is most useful when used in conjunction with other kits, not by itself as a primary test.

I don't really see the advantage of Mecke. As soon as a pill is mixed with DXM and MDxx, Mecke becomes useless.
Mecke, Mandelin and X-TREME for that matter, seem all pretty useless when a pill contains DXM and MDXX.
This is why I would like to have one of those cherries (some other thread) and check whether pills like this still display typical reactions with the various reagents, which I doubt.

i dunno about pill testers, i've been thinking about getting one, but if i tested a pill and it came up bad i'd either still take it or not take it and be really pissed.
Whereas if i didn't test it i could take it and most likely have no ill effects
 
*sigh* you've missed the point completly. you are supposed to test your pills before you buy them. the decision you make is not whether to take it, but whether or not to buy it.
if it tests as bad you ask for other pills and test them until you are satisfied. if you don't find any with the one dealer, go elsewhere. if the dealer refuses to let you test they are obviously hiding something and should be avoided.
Whereas if i didn't test it i could take it and most likely have no ill effects
or you could end up dead. almost a dozen people have died from PMA pills in the last year.
