Hi

If the above 2 chemicals both metabolise into morphine and dihydromophine what's the point in them why don't they just sell morphine and dihydro? I know this question is probably stupid but just want to know why . I know 30mgs of codeine metabolites into a considerable less amount of morphine but non the less still turns to morphine

Codeine is also metabolised to codeine-6-glucuronide which is thought to be at least partially (if not mostly) responsible for it's opioid effects. Codeine itself is a pro-drug, which means it is ineffective until metabolised into something else, but as you say the amount of morphine produced is pretty small and it is easier to manufacture codeine than all the active metabolites.

Dihydrocodeine is not a pro-drug; it is active in it's own right. Yes, dihydromorphine is a metabolite and likely has some effect, but DHC itself is an opioid agonist too. Manufacturing dihydromorphine would skip this.

It may well be that dihydromorphine is not as suitable a drug as dihydrocodeine, or it may be harder to manufacture.

they have different effects to morphine. they are weaker. they have greater histamine release.

heroin is a pro drug of morphine and 6-MAM, but is not the same as "morphine but faster"

Also, never try to shoot up codeine or hydrocodone for that matter. They're very allergic compounds.
