A friend of mine shoots dope (heroin). this usually came in capsules and the product is powdered. Not sure what type of heroin it was. I was told it's JUST dope. How could this be in powder form and not liquid? Is this stuff really what it is? Ever heard of such thing as powdered dope?

I love this thread.

It comes in powder because it's easier to store and lasts longer. The user adds water and sometimes citric acid to it, filters, and injects. It'd take more space, but if it was stored as a liquid, it would all break down into morphine within a couple days. Heroin for injection is a solution of water, not a substance itself that is liquid at room temperature.

All too well, my friend...

ok so how is it turned into powder when it's made from liquid ingredient materials? does it follow the same procedure as powdered milk?

It's not made from liquid ingredients. It's made from poppies. Morphine is extracted from the poppy and then converted to heroin.

yeah opium is like a paste but I but if you could remove all of the moisture from pure opium then it will be a powdery substance. And then they further process it into all the different constituents that make up opium.

Hahaha :D
We can't discuss how to synthesise heroin from poppies I am afraid.
I have never heard of heroin coming in capsules or in liquid form, haha. Tar can be kinda gooey I believe but apart from that it is always a powder.

I think this has been pretty much answered.. ;)

Closed. Shoot me a pm if you have any queries :)

I just wanted to point out that NO heroin comes in liquid solution. Diamorphine ampoules still used medicinally are powder and water is added to it. You already mentioned it will hydrolyze (into morphine and 06-MAM) so it's impractical to produce heroin ampoules that have a shelf life of a couple days or so.
