I keep falling in love with Linda Bruner everytime I listen to it. Her broken voice is priceless.

Hope this thread's gonna help me to find some nice stuff I need to know.

Sounds interesting on you tube.

I Would also add I Lucifer- The Real Tuesday Weld.

Took a while to grow on me but worth it

Autoclave was a short-lived all-female indie rock band based in Washington, D.C.. Formed in the summer of 1990, the group consisted of Christina Billotte (vocals and electric bass guitar), Mary Timony (electric guitar and vocals), Nikki Chapman (electric guitar and vocals), and Melissa Berkoff (drums).

The group became known for their intelligent, slightly off-kilter brand of rock, which featured the use of compound and changing meters, thus affiliating them to some extent with the "math rock" movement.

The group broke up in May 1991, with Timony forming Helium and Billotte forming Slant 6.

I'm just in love with how Mary Timony plays guitar. Everything about it is just totally sexy.

Matson Jones featured two cellists/vocalists, a drummer, and an upright bassist. No one was named Matson Jones -- the band's name was a sly art world reference. But with the intriguing harmonies and sawing cellos of Martina Grbac and Anna Mascorella out front and a straightforwardly driving rhythm section of Ross Harada (drums) and Matt Regan (bass), the Fort Collins, CO-based quartet created a raw sound close to conventional indie rock.

No guitars, of course, but still. There were also comparisons made to PJ Harvey and Rasputina. Though Grbac and Mascorella had collaborated previously, it was with the 2003 establishment of the quartet lineup that their sound really came together. Local buzz developed quickly, helped along by shows with prominent locals like DeVotchKa.

Matson Jones issued their self-titled debut in June 2005 through Sympathy for the Record Industry, followed by an EP, Albatross Mates for Life But Only After a Lengthy Courtship That Can Take Up to Four Years, in 2006.

Two Great Albums You Might not Have Heard

FIRST...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcgyKo7vbm4

n The Aeroplane Over the Sea - by Neutral Milk Hotel...
This album is/was like hipster manna, until everyone started listening to them without really "getting it." After copious research I "got" that the lead singer/songwriter was inspired by a dream about Anne Frank. The Anne Frank reference makes sense at certain points, such as when he sings "I wished I could save her/ in some sort of time machine", but then he sings lyrics such as "semen stains the mountaintop." I understand that the snow which caps some mountain looks similar to semen, but I'm not certain if that ha something to do with Anne Frank (was she raped? did she have sex? Does the lead singer Colin Meloy want to have sex with her, or just stain/shoot semen on her mountaintops/breasts? All good, but irrelevant.

If you can get past the lyrics and the bizarre musical styles (accordions, tubas, and just strange disparate, somewhat folk-ish musical influences/style) they are just a great band. I love to be very drunk and play the "Oh Comely", which makes even less sense than "Communist Daughter" (the aforementioned, "semen stains mountaintop," song) when I can even understand the lyrics. "Oh, Comely" is right after "The Mariner's Revenge Song" by the Decemberists as my favorite song to sing while drunk.

BOTTOM LINE: Listen to this album at least twice, you will likely be confused and annoyed the first time but will fall in love the second rotation.

SECOND...http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lovage&aq=f

Lovage: Music To Make To Your Old Lady By - by Nathaniel Merriweather of the Handsome Boy Modeling School, a/k/a Dan the Automator as fellated by Kid Koala ...
This album is perfectly titled. Everyone on the album is fucking great. Lead vocals by Mike Patton, from Faith No More, and Jennifer Charles, who according to Wikipedia is a band called Elysian Fields from NY city. Just to get into it, try "Sex (I'm a...)" or "To Catch a Thief" which both showcase Jennfier Charles' great, fucking sexy voice.

BOTTOM LINE: It's ironic and insanely funny, but the music is also genuinely good as compared to say Weird Al Yankovic, with great performances by all, including a cameo by David Bowie. If you are dating/just met a girl with a sense or irony and humor then this album could actually help get you laid.

Hey "oneswtwld", are you familiar with "Three Times One Minus One"? I recommend you Google them.

I also wanted to notice that Dan the Automator, from the album I recommended, studied with Prince Paul (a/k/a "Chest Rockwell") at The Handsome Boy Modeling School. We all want to be beautiful and get ladies, they just turned it into a science.

Anyway, no disrespect to Mr. Rockwell's non-handsome qualities and work...but I'd also like to recommend Nathaniel Merriwhether's other work as a producer for such beloved albums as:

Dr. Octagonecologyst (by Dr. Octagon...[a/k/a Kool Keith, who went on to blow my mind with Spankmaster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJEuUeBv5qI&feature=related among lots of other great albums)

Deltron 3030
(with Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Kid Koala) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7_jbluF0qo&feature=related

And, for anyone who loved Vanilla Ice until he sold out, and followed Eminem until he stopped taking pills/drugs, there is a Great White Hope still out there...his name is Aesop Rock, Labor Days is a great introduction to his voice and delivery, both genetically designed for rap/hip-hop.\

I think Lovage: Music to Make Love... is pretty obscure. I came across it through Napster in the 90's accidentally and per Wikipedia it's currently out-of-print which is sad. Everything about it, the band/album name, liner art, song titles is pitch perfect irony which I have to imagine led many to assume it is a novelty album or cornier than Bary White.

Deltron 3030 was modestly successful at best, I doubt its even a gold record. But, I really just added it in case someone wasn't familiar with Dan-o-mater or Del through something other than their weirdly commercial Gorrilaz.

No comments on Neutral Milk, or is this a Hip-Hop crowd? And nobody has an opinion on Aesop Rock?

I have everyone else's albums on rotation in the iPod and I need to listen to something more than once, I really hated the Neutral Milk Hotel the first time I heard them, to give it a chance.
The same principle applies to my classic good looks...
Sudentlaw: Look at this face, what do you see?
Yerg: Uhh...it's a face!
Sudentlaw: Yeah but what kind of face?
Yerg': Uhh, pale.. pasty.. psychotic
Sudentlaw: No Yerg!
It's a neatly chiseled, well groomed, drop dead handsome face!

Neutral Milk Hotel is pretty popular here, as is Aesop Rock. (when it comes to white boy rappers I think I like Xaul Zan more)
