Hi there,

I had 3/4th of a pill about 8 hours ago, and just 10 minutes ago I had a mad experience.

I took the pill at 5pm, went to a mates where we all chilled. No dancing or shit, only sweat a little bit. Drunk a lucozade sport over the space of an hour.

Anyway, I've just been laying in bed for ages, then I got up cos bored. I'm pretty sure I nearly like died, I stumbled downstairs BLIND. my eyesight went completely and i started sweating loadssss. So I just had a drink with a bit of salt in it. I think its from the sudden change to quickly standing up, blood drained from my head.

Any advice for me?
I had just over half an untested pill.

that totally sounds like orthostatic dyregulation to me, so basically you've been lying down, got up too quickly and your blood pressure dropped. i get that regularly without any kind of drugs (though most of the time without the complete loss of vision).

you may feel lightheaded for a few minutes, but it's perfectly normal. having something to drink or eat something usually helps prevent this.

Thanks man you've made me feel so much better :') It was quite horrifying tho, my eyesight completely faded for about a minute as I stumbled across the house to get some water.

Should I put some salt in water to drink? Since that episode made me sweat so much I think I might need salt.

Currently sat in the kitchen shivering quite a bit but don't really feel cold.

You probably didn't sweat that much like someone dancing all night. Extra salt is really for them. It's not healthy to eat too much as it will stress your kidneys. Maybe a hint of salt, like the amount you'd put on your fries if that makes you feel safer :)

that's not the ideal thing to do really. normally, it goes away quickly by lying down again or even better lying on the floor with your feet on a chair or something. if you completely lost your vision, you're close to passing out and falling over (basically, that's the body's mechanism for ensuring that your head gets enough oxygen when your bp is too low; but you don't have to worry about your brain getting starved of oxygen - you will fall down some time before any damage would occur), so if you roam the house, you might hurt yourself. so in an ideal situation, you'll have a friend getting you something to drink, while you lie down on the floor.

as myr said, salt doesn't make a difference and you don't sweat enough for it to upset your electrolyte balance. but ime, sugared drinks (for instance coke) work better than plain water.

do you know how ecstasy (MDMA) makes this more likely to happen, if it does? I used to get this a lot normally, before I started exercising regularly.

for it happening during the main effects, i have no idea. mdma usually increases blood pressure a little bit, so it would be more logical to happen when the effects start to fade and your blood pressure drops again.
you didn't by any chance smoke weed too? cannabis is known to cause drops in blood pressure from time to time, but again, i have no idea about the mechanism.

Just read this on wiki

'Still, the blood pressure does not normally fall very much, because it immediately triggers a vasoconstriction (baroreceptor reflex), pressing the blood up into the body again.'

So I think the blood pooling is more likely/present due to how mdma effects vasoconstriction. Not too sure just a guess. Or dehydration.

if there were no immediate response, we would faint every time we stand up ;)

could be, maybe the vasoconstriction leaves a bit less room for the physiological adjustments...
