I'm finding your experience illuminating. I remember a few times I had heard of people saying that pot made bad toothache pain a lot worse. I've also had that experience myself once. My theory has been that pot can make you focus more on extreme pain, but now I think there's more involved than just that.in some ppl thc increases pain overall r/chronicpain on reddit attests to this.
My experience is weed only works once or twice if I haven’t used it in weeks on pain…then a vicious rebound happens where thc or any other cannabinoid increases pain all the time using it.
It’s not the way opiates increase pain either via hyperalgesia…like the increased pain is while peaking on weed not when it wears off
My experience with back pain and any other type of pain and weed
I love weed as a drug but the only thing that has ever got me to stop using it for extended periods is chronic pain
I have myofascial pain disorder(slash, we don't know what the fuck it is) centered in my neck but causing pain throughout my body. Neck pain is notorious for referred pain. I have had what I thought was bad tendonitis in my elbow which wasn't responding to treatment, which then alleviated when my neck got modified treatment. Muscles get knots (trigger points) which can press on nerve bundles and cause all kinds of weird issues. (you can actually feel a knot and it physically goes away with treatment, they're hard to track down) I've lived with this a few decades.
Anyway, pot is very effective for this type of pain (in me). The fact that it has muscle relaxing as well as it's pain relief and anti-inflammatory properties is likely part of it. It also can get you in touch with your body and give you patience to find and stretch knots. I usually can't stretch effectively at all, needing to treat with moving exercises or massage, but I can do stretches well while high.
We can surely say that YMMV with pot for pain. In my not so humble opinion, it depends on the type of pain as well as the severity. My condition is known for pain that is certainly formidable, but not excruciating. What's bad about it is that it is *always* there. You wake up with it, go to bed with it, and there is no position you can get in which alleviates it.
Hang in there mon, and good luck. Your posts are interesting data points for me.
