The 90s music were defiantly more angry than the 70s, perhaps because of prohibition? Think about it, when Nixon and Ford banned drug use in the USA many countries followed suit. Then the CIA got involved and drug trafficking became a thing. Prohibition has never worked in US history yet government decided it was going to protect us from ourselves by introducing a criminal element into acquiring recreational drug use.. The 70s were about exploring new frontiers as opposed to the generation before us who had just come from war. For me personally, I wanted nothing to do with conforming to the status quo and gave me a way out.
Civil Rights and the Viet Nam War served as catalysts in promoting change in government and questioned traditional values in the system.
By the time 90s rolled around the efforts of the 70s generation had failed to produce significant change in government it was corrupt as ever and 90s music reflected the anger and frustration of a failed system. Just a theory. I post 6 more songs that were instrumental to the 70s. If I'm not mistaken 70s music was largely experimental however, if I may I would like to include 60s music as well?
