What was the first big "internet RC"?

Well that resonates with my experience. JWH-018 and 4-MMC is where it started for me, followed shortly by 2C-I and 2C-E. This was in 2010.
 
The biggest RC they ever came up with was mephedrone. Nothing has been that big a boom on the scene since ketamine and ecstasy before that. I've heard one of the main producers in China died and that is one reason there is no great stuff still being made. Also the ban in India.
 
Depends on how you define "RC."

First is probably 2C-x, though 2C-T-x came before that really. All the cannabinoids were later I think, the popular Shulgin inventions go back almost to the beginning of the internet I think.
 
2CT7 or 5-MeO-DMT, 2CB shortly thereafter I think but those were the first 3 as far as I know that were available somewhat openly; there was an even an old school e-mail list dedicated to this stuff. A number of other drugs followed along in similar chemical genres. There was a lot of speculation on the Hive that bore fruit later (including 'drone) but not really at the time. But that's going way back, well more than a decade ago, to when called research chemicals "poisonous non-consumables" :) If we're talking about something hitting the mainstream, I suppose you can only go back to mephedrone, if we're speaking about something sold as itself, although 2CB showed up from time to time in the rave scene and DOx on blotter was a problem dating back to the post-Pickard "acid drought." These might have been a stateside boutique synth rather than an "internet" RC though, but the spigot from China was turned on earlier than many people think.

Yeap guys I am fully aware of 2c compounds and other drugs which are excellent such as 4-aco-DMT which I also rate highly. 2c-i is one of my favorite drugs ever, I almost prefer it to 2c-b as it's stimulating. Those two are the best though then 2c-t-7 then 2c-e which I found the least favorable. Personally I prefer the high from 2c-i to mephedrone but mephedrone due to the scene it created and the fiendishness of it and the huge effects in British society earned itself a place in history as the biggest RC ever to hit the shores of the UK IMO.
 
Here in Europe it definitely was Mephedrone (media coverage of this was what actually brought me here too..by a long story). The Spice thing occurred at the same time but there it was more about smoking incenses with unknown ingredients.

With 4-MMC the RC capitalism and the era with crowds of teenagers getting high all nights off the internets began.. there's a well written book about the matter by Mike Power (I've only read the German translation though.)

5-MeO-DMT came out more or less shortly thereafter, then I think 2C-B, then it slowly but surely escalated, then 2004 hit, then things were disorganized, then the Chinese rebooted and it was off to the races.
 
2CT7 was fun if you went in knowing it could kill you if you looked at it the wrong way (read: snort 30mg)

Actually now that you mention it, I heard about 5-MeO-DMT before I heard about meph. 2C-B was still the first one I heard about (and used) though.
 
I never found 5meodmt so crazy but 5hodmt certainly was... I should I try 5meo again.

Will go on record saying that 2cb was/is incredible/amazing/laudable

Oh how I miss those white blank 2c-b tablets. Story goes some guy who was a chemist loved it so much he made a batch (thousands and gave them all away for free to people in the scene), by the time I had them I was paying for them but they were cheap. Tiny white blank pills we ate them and sniffed them but I've only had 2c-b powder that good maybe once if it was. Anyone else ever have those? 2c-b > meph for sure.
