🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 What TV Shows are You Binging v. Cut That Cord!

Mr Inbetween is a fucking great crime comedy. Snowfall was pretty dope. Finally got round to watching House after all this time, mostly lived up to the insane level of hype. SAS Rogue Heroes cracked me tf up because 2 of the main characters just remind me of me and one of my friends whenever we get together. The Expanse was recommended on the basis of my friend watching it and finding a lot of similarities between myself and Amos. Was a solid 6/10 overall but I see the resemblance.

I've watched more TV shows in the month since 2025 started than I've watched in the last 5 years so I think I'm gonna switch back to books and gaming for a while.

Recently finished Severence season 1 - was pretty decent. i liked patricia arquette, tramell tillman and britt lower's characters the best. 3/5

Watched the Kathy Bates Matlock season 1. It was a bit cliched but had it's moments and i'll probably watch the next season. 2/5

Finished Silo season 2 yesterday. I did find it was getting a little slow during this season, with a fair bit of filler, especially many of the more tedious plots from silo 18. I look forward to seeing what they do with the other books though. I think this is the first
nanobot-inspired
dystopian series i've watched, rather than one about everyone dying from a disease or nuclear war or whatever.

I've been considering severance and silo since I got a free 3 months of Apple TV. But seems like severance is kinda meh? Silo is more worth it?

Watch both. Severence is really popular, for good reason. It seems a bit implausible initially, but it begins to make (disturbing) sense as the episodes pass.

The best series I've watched recently (in fact, in a long time) was Station Eleven. I sat through the entire series in a weekend, and felt quite a profound set of emotions that really touch on the human condition, alienation, family, connection, loops and ties. Actually I think it may have been partly responsible for causing about 2 weeks of panic/anxiety attacks (alongside other stuff). I don't think this is a risk for others though lol.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just finished Penguin so I can go right over to this on MAX.

Is Penguin good? I'd never heard of it before but just did a quick google and it has like 95% on rotten tommies

Yeah I loved it.

I really hope they do more limited series like it based on other characters in Gotham.

@CFC I'm to the part where she stabs the guy after the play.

I like it so far. Just hoping the mystery comes together. I've watched shows before where they never really explain anything and just toy with the audience forever.

Everything gets explained. It speeds up and starts to make sense as you realize who some of the characters are supposed to be. It does take a bit of effort to notice some of the links though. I suppose that's why watching multiple episodes at once helps. I also recognized many more connections and loops between actions and events the second time I saw it. Like "oh! so that's him, but 20 years before, as a child," and "oh, so that's why they did that..." Noticing doesn't really change anything, but I think it did reinforce some of the embedded themes.

I get you. It's kind of reminding me of the leftovers a bit. A show that I enjoyed watching so much but in the end I was a bit let down because they left so much open to interpretation. But as you say, I might get more out of it on a second watch.

Reminds me of Lost too. The constant time jumping and mysterious elements.

Yeah I read someone else comparing it to Lost. This one was only ever meant to be a miniseries based on a book so it does come to a conclusion. Most of the answers to clues that you see popping up but wonder what their significant might be eventually make sense. But it took me a second watch to properly put the bits together (I am quite thick, but also you don't know what you don't know, I think...)

The Pitt is really good - if you were a fan of OG ER, it stars Noah Wylie (Dr. Carter in ER) as the lead physician. Very good and very true to hospital life. Ties to post-covid trauma for those of us who worked through that blitzkrieg. Nods to fentanyl and abortion access dilemas. Highly recommended.

I need some recommendations….everything I try to watch lately sucks to me and I can’t find anything that grips me. I always stop watching half way through . Here’s a few samples of shows that did really capture me so you know what flavor to recommend.

True detective S1
Breaking Bad
White Lotus
The Knick

Movies:
The beach
Royal tennenbaums
Requiem for a dream
Mother!

Really enjoying most of Taylor Sheridan's stuff, but more specifically

Landman
Mayor of Kingstown

Highly recommended and should keep you going for a short time.

(Also Fargo Season 1 if you haven't already seen it)

Best series of all time IMO is Deadwood.
