Good one!

The Primitives - Crash was the very first single I ever bought on 7 inch vinyl, along with Vanessa Paradis - Joe Le Taxi. I was 7. Got them with my dad from his mates junk shop. He sold allsorts!

I even wrote my name on the top.....I say wrote, probably scribbled in little girl writing.

Felt - Primitive Painters, with Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins A Cocteau twins song being where my user name comes from.

Ha, I'm going back in time tonight.

hay, did ya get bubble bath with crash, think i got bubble bath with a primitive record!!

decide, boyzone or tracy chapman!! and another good un by herself for y'all there.

bought me sis the album for christmas, and me bro a carter usm cd. guess what? they're still on the table they put them christmas day. well, i could take offence, but i got more things to do.......

You went to school with 'Little' Richard Oakes? :)

I did. He was a very quiet lad - from what I've heard he turned into a major coke fiend.... Although didn't we all?

Coming Up wasn't a bad album though. I love the chemistry between us

Good call on Dennis Wilson, I haven't listened to his solo stuff. This Brian Wilson song has become a standard in my house - Still I Dream Of It

I think it is the rough vocals and shoddy production that make it so magical...<3

oh man, what a great couple of pages! where to begin...

ah, thanks man, i fit a lot in, i got a very busy mind, now he wants ta go and see what i put in the the smiths thread. i just say what i see and say what i think
hey man, it's not that Evad and i don't like you. i do actually like you, but i just wish you'd start making a bit more sense and try to stick to the topic of the thread, that's all. :) (especially in the Smiths one, heh ;))
i wasn't massively into the JaMC at the time, but some of my mates were. i happened to see this the other day, which was worth watching for the interview, funny as fuck!!! :D

The Jesus and Mary Chain - North London Poly Riot
oh hell yeah, let's have some SABBATH!

Black Sabbath - War Pigs

you just cannot beat the first album <3
Suede were one of my first loves. I used to prepare for nights out by sitting in the bath with a glass of chardonnay, listening to Dog Man Star.
oh yeah, DMS is definitely my favourite Suede album. it's widely acknowledged as the Suede connoisseur's album of choice, it's a total masterpiece. the pinnacle of which is the epic:

The Asphalt World
^ I was a huge Suede fan too. I even liked Bernard Butler's solo stuff.

Were you a fan of Mansun?
massive Mansun fan here too! i think i've seen them twice now, they were great. :)
Good one!

The Primitives - Crash was the very first single I ever bought
the primitives were the first band i ever saw live, supporting Echo & The Bunnymen at glasgow barrowlands when i were just a lad of 17. they were great, and i went and bought the album.
The Cure- Lullaby<3
yet another of my favourite bands of all time! and that song is from the Disintegration album, which is the Cure connoisseur's album of choice too. so many epic and brilliant songs on there. :)
oh yes, what a tune!! i got err, what was it on12" the other week, PUMP UP THE JAM, for 50 pence!!=D
OMG, for once i actually understand what you said and i agree with you! i bought the Technotronic album on cassette at the time, which was probably the first dance album i ever bought. lovely jubbly. :)

anyway, enough gibberings from me...

I'm a big fan since the days they played North London Poly and walked off after 15 seconds causing a riot.

i wasn't massively into the JaMC at the time, but some of my mates were. i happened to see this the other day, which was worth watching for the interview, funny as fuck!!! :D

That's the one. Go right to the last twenty seconds or so to see a young Bobby Gillespie whimpering about the kids not coming for the music.

It was actually pretty scary.

Yeah, that's the best bit. 'Hard Man Bobby' eh? Don't think so...

There was a review somewhere which mentioned there being "known gang members" present. I always thought it was journo-bullshit, but having seen that it must've been unpleasant at the time, gang members or not.

SHM, I really wish I'd been old enough at the time. Much respect to thee.

The 80s were pretty good for alternative music, probably because the corporate fucks largely ignored it. Now it's just been co-opted, neutralised and packaged like everything else.

Television Personalities? Ramones? good work, people.

As I make no secret of my obsession with the 'Brummie Lou Reed', here's some more:

Felt - Ballad of The Band

The song that got me into them. And if you're reading this, Claire (which you won't be) give me back my 7" single please. :)
