what to eat on an ayahuasca diet?

Yes they are all ok.

I believe there's some obscure kind of cheese you have to steer clear of. And don't eat any bloated corpses.

pretty sure harmaline is a short term reverisble MAOI (compared to long term ones) and i remember reading that dietary restrictions don't apply to the short term one

not sure if any foodstuffs cause serotonin syndrome when combined

Foods to avoid are;

All animal products (that's all meat, fish, eggs and dairy, especially cheeses); microwaved food, processed food, fermented products (yogurt, sauerkraut, soy sauce, pickles, miso etc.); yeast containing products; coffee, chocolate, all alcohol, overly ripe bananas and avocados, all beans, any supplements or protein drinks containing the amino acid " Tyramine". Avoid sugar and salt. All narcotics, antihistamines or analgesics and ephedrine (found in some herbal stimulants, cold remedies and often in Chinese herbal remedies).

What Can I Eat?

Salads, steamed veg, rice, millet, buckwheat, yeast free bread, seeds, nuts, soups, herbs and fruit. On the day of the ritual, it would be better to fast for the whole day. If you can, fast for as many days prior to the ceremony as feasible.

I hope this helps.

Excuse my idiocy, but what's an 'ayahuasca diet' when it's at home?

Tyring to lose psychological weight? Is this just a way to maximise the benefits of ayahuasca?

Some foods can be fatal if eaten durring the time before an ayahuasca trip.

So people planning on taking Ayahuasca need to be on a certain "diet" for a few days before and after the experience...

You can't eat meat or fish? "Narcotics"? Analegesics? Sugar? Where did you get this from Phoenix? Is this just stuff you can't eat for religious reasons? It's certainly not for any health reasons.

Ok I see... but how can so many different foods cause these bad reactions?

They don't. I've eaten pretty much all those foods on the same day as I've taken oral DMT. Moclobemide is an anti-depressant MAOI and you can eat a standard diet while you're on it.

And you don't need to fast either - in fact fasting when you're taking oral DMT is a bad idea as you usually need to eat something like buttered toast to make the DMT kick in.

In my experience I get far less vomiting and less nausea if I've ate light food (no sugar, no fat, no salt) a few days prior the ayahuasca (don't know about "pharmahuasca") experience.

I think there's something about DMT that causes nausea. Even pharmahuasca with freebase DMT (or trying to use salts like DMT phosphate, DMT fumarate etc) still cause nausea.

There's something about DMT hitting the body that almost always causes you to throw up.

Yes very probably. But I think that there is also something in the vine causing nausea (or purging) because I also experienced nausea without DMT visuals.

Some of the diet is for ritual significance but other parts are for health, there are some foods that are broken down by the body and made safe, when you take Banisteriopsis caapi (the vine) that is essential to the Ayahuasca recipe it acts as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor,it stops the body from breaking down certain compunds,so then some foods become problematic.

Some of the diet is to weaken the body and mind,or to put it another way,to cleanse the body of toxins and the like,by depriving yourself of many foods that we take for granted helps to make way for the Ayahuasca, even if you were to do the diet without taking Ayahuasca you would notice a marked difference in your physical and mental state.
