What to do with a BA in Psychology?

I got a BS in Psych, and worked in research for a few years after college. My recommendation is to try your best to find a job as a research assistant at a local university/business. It's a good resume builder (especially if you don't have much research/work experience), and it will give you a feel for what your prospects are after graduate school.
Bingo.

There's plenty of people with Psychology degrees.

There aren't anywhere nearly as many with applied experience.

Been there, done it.

Double-ewe's advice is the best you will get, although you should attempt to get experience in the summer months between academic years.

You can get jobs unrelated to psychology (though market yourself by saying you've gained a great understanding of the mind in your interviews) that pay around 30,000-40,000. Most jobs that you would gain with a BA in psych would probably be sales or HR related. If you have a knack for something else (say, writing) you could go into journalism or the like.

However, if you want to make the big bucks, you've got to go to graduate school. A BA in psych on its own doesn't count for much. Research and doctoral positions are the most worthwhile careers in psychology.

You can get an entry level job that only requires a Bachelor's degree, but doesn't require a specific major (Administrative Assistant, etc.).
Most people who major in Psych go to Graduate School. You can get a Master's in Counseling, or some branch of Psych, or you can get a PhD.
