I dunno if I should be at a hospital right now but earlier I thought my blood pressure was sky rocketing, I don't mean to make this weird, but it happened when I was well in a sexual act. Anyway I took a klonopin because I don't know what else to do besides eat which I just did, raspberries, vitamin bar, powerade, mini wheats, chicken, and a banana.

Ok here's where I'm thrown Off. I just started Dexedrine. I take 40mgs a day or so. I don't ever pass the 50 mark because it seems to be extremely stupid unless I'm very tired and have a Lot of homework to get done. SO I have always though I had sleep apnea. I fucking twitched really bad last night and I don't understand. I have a friend who I see often who told me I was twitching a few nights ago while I was asleep and I asked was it bad? His reply was not really I just noticed it. I don't get whats going on as I've been eating healthy and for the past 3 nights maybe 4 i have had trouble with breathing during sleep sometimes it feels like im drowning and I'll shake and shake and try to move and sometimes I can't. Last night I'm pretty sure it happened again, I know, because I was concious that I twitched for no real reason just like a jolt. I'm starting to get bothered by this and dunno whats going on? I'm almost afraid to fall asleep if someone isn't around, but I almost always do. I know in the past I thought I had sleep apnea because this drowning gasping for air has happened before but if someone could tell me whats been going on it would be very very appreciated because I dunno if it was lack of food because I wasn't eating meat until last week and I have been trying to eat as healthy as possible lately and if I'm hungry while I have taken my Dexedrine I can usually eat within an 4 hours unless I take another dose as prescribed. Help? wtf?:(

B&O it actually sounds like you're experiencing sleep paralysis, not sleep apnoea. Patients with sleep apnoea usually aren't aware of it, and twitching in your sleep isn't a symptom. Usually sleep apnoea is suspected as a problem if you are abnormally tired after you think you've gotten 8 or so hours of sleep, and it feels like you actually only had 1 or 2 hours of sleep when you wake up. Also, if you had sleep apnoea your friend would have more likely noted that you had stopped breathing for extended periods of time during your sleep.

Sleep paralysis can occur to varying degrees and it's not always the full-blown hallucinatory type that people often describe. Either way, if it's occurring to a point where it's disrupting your sleep cycle every night, then it might be worth mentioning it to your doctor.

In the meantime, you could try and reduce your stress levels in your waking life, which will hopefully reduce the incidence of sleep problems. Also, try and make sure you don't play any computer games or preferably even watch any TV or use the computer at all for about an hour before you go to bed.

I'm not sure what the first part of your post was about, is your blood pressure a separate issue or do you think it's related?

this all has to be related. and i am extremely tired when nI wake up thats why I say apnea Ill get 6 hours it willl happen ill be so fucking tired when I wake up that I drink coke and comehow it takes it away for the night I just layed down and everything was ok. i just asked my friend and he said I twitched a bit last night and im scared because im alone

quick replies I dunno where I should go and I'm getting tired this is no dream. I swear. The last time it happened and was bad I got up and just took na deep breath and rolled over with a what the fuck...maybe it only happens when im on my side or back instead of my stomach? what would you do if you were alone i dunno how I can wake myself up if I cant move

I think the blood pressure may be due to me switching from 5mg valium for 2 or 3 months to 1mg klonopin and temazepam.......and I no longer dose in the day because I have mmt and that adds to the sleepyness so I forget the benzo until I feel its needed....fuck

Sleep apnea would be worsened by using anything that depresses your breathing like opiates and methadone and benzos. I agree with Neo though that it probably isn't sleep apnea. That causes periods of stopping breathing while sleeping. Someone would have said you actually stopped plus most sufferers snore really loudly too. You should see a doctor about the BP though. Try and quit the drugs too. Maybe this a wake up call to you. No sense risking dying in your sleep.

I love responses like this. I dont even take my temazepam right now(if I do its anxiety related), or more than a mg of klonopin. I do snore. Very loud too. I just went and got some nasal strips. What am I supposed to do living alone hours away from anyone that even cares about me? Really. What kind of response was that? I've been on xanax since I got out of high school which went from benzo to benzo for 3 years almost 4? I dont smoke or drink anymore. I think tomorrow I'm telling the clinic to take me down 5mgs then in 2 days 5 more, and I guess well have to see how it goes. I don't really know. It sucks having 0 friends in a city/world full of shitty ass individuals.

I twitch a lot while im dreaming, and then usually wake up having a feeling like something just didn't go right. there's been a few times when (usually) almost kinda asleep, id have just one really big, violent whole-body twitch. most of the time i wouldn't even know it, except the few times when it'd startle the shit out of or elbow my exwife. it was kinda funny the first time, but after that id just get cuffed on the ear or doused with the bedtime water.
anyways, it always happened when i was kinda dreaming, almost fully under.

since ive become really aware of my dreams and turned into a junky, the twitching kinda stopped.
then again, id have to be actually sleeping.

yeh can get a sleep-study done, those usually tell you a lot.

I think most people experience those violent body-twitches on occasion. I know I do. I will be lying there on the border between consciousness and sleep; that period when you are juuust starting to dream about things but they're so lucid that you can almost control them. Anyway, I'll be walking in my dream and I'll trip or fall to the ground and that's when my whole body jerks really violently. Sometimes it just happens at random without a dream.

Pretty much anyone I've ever slept with for an extended period of time has done the same thing at least once in a while. I think unless you're basically seizing in your sleep or constantly twitching it probably isn't anything horrible but it's always good to be safe rather than sorry, especially when your blood pressure is involved in the mix. That could mean a myriad of things so yeah, I would talk to a doctor about all of this.

Also, are you physically withdrawing from anything right now? I think you mentioned switching drugs and taking smaller doses so maybe that has something to do with it. I used to twitch a lot and have absolutely retched episodes of RLS when I was withdrawing. The twitching and jerking passed after a while and I was finally able to get some actual sleep once I got cleaned up.

Anyway, ask your doctor about it because s/he knows how your drugs interact in your specific situation, what their side effects are, and whether or not your symptoms should be a cause for concern.

Nah I just lowered my methadone dose by 5mgs though. I was on 5mg valium and switched to 1mg klonopin and restoril......
