I was a very young woman when this song came out and Simon and Art were young men. The song was one that shaped my view of love. I was, like so many young people, desperately searching for love and confused as to why, when I found it, it never felt like the home I was searching for. We were the "free love" generation but we hadn't any more of a clue than anyone before or since. This song made me realize the selfishness of my search. This rendition from S&G as older men is particularly moving. Simply to be a bridge over the troubled waters of life, knowing that the water will have its own course but that you can, in all your conflicted humanity span that chaos and create for one human being at a time (and thus for yourself) a solid place to cross is not a bad way to spend a life. Thanks for posting this.

It's a beautiful post Herby. I believe each and everyone of us have meaningful insights as we grow older and I hope they continue to show us the way, making us go after the light, love, and in some manners teach us so we can come to terms with ourselves.
