What should I take to combat a stimulant?

I used to be prescribed Dexedrine (for a diagnosis of ADHD) and got a bit out of hand abusing it recreationally. I worked to get off it and haven't taken any in many months. My psychiatrist recently convinced me to try medication again and has put me on Concerta instead. I tried it today for the first time because I have a big paper to write for university.
The dose she prescribed me is 108 mg (a simple search on wiki tells me the maximum dosage should be 60mg...?) and I feel HORRIBLE. I feel sick and wired and there is NO way I can write a big paper in this state.
My paper is due in 20 hours, and the concerta is supposed to last for 16....does anyone have a recommendation for what would help combat/lessen the effects of it?
I have Ativan, as well as Zyprexa (they are both prescribed to me, I do not take either of them on the regular - don't want to take Zyprexa daily becuase of potential weight gain).
Any ideas? Thanks so much!

How long ago did you take the Concerta?

About 7, 8 hours ago? I was at work for a good portion of that and wasn't feeling great on it, but upon getting home I realized this was really not a productive state (and it feels to be getting worse).

If you have no benzo tolerance, I would take 1 mg, and wait and see if you need another mg in an hour. If the Ativan's effects wear off before the Concerta's and you still feel tweaked out, you could take another dose, perhaps 1 mg. 108 mg Concerta is a ridiculous dose to be rx'd for ADHD esp. if you have no methylphenidate tolerance.

My doctor also had me on a stupid high dose of Dexedrine before, I think she might be insane.
I'll try that, I really appreciate the help, thanks!

Take some of your zyprexa. Start with your daily intake. It should take care of the stimulation from the excess dopamine. Do not exceed 1.5x your daily dosage or you may have trouble staying awake to do your paper. If this doesn't help, a mg or two of ativan, but that's it. Not much else to do but wait it out.

1mg. of the Ativan. idk what your Zyprexa tolerance but I personally wouldn't take more than 7.5mg if I was in academic mode. Eat like some benadryl if you have some, I suggest <50mg. if you have to write that paper. Redose 0.5 lorazepam in 45min. increments.

Do some exercise.

I've always found if i take anti-psychotics(nozinan) or atypical anti-psychotics (risperidone), it cancels out whatever stimulant i'm on. even at high doses of dexedrine, i'll take some risperidone and i won't feel NO effects of dexedrine. Also, taking benzos will obviously help reduce the effects of dexedrine. good luck.

Have you talked to your psych about this at all? You could surely get the deadline put off if you explain, and have her back up, that you couldn't do it for medical reasons.

I'm also rather confused as to if she actually gave you above the max dose and why.
